The Lancashire region

What can you say about the Lake District that people don't already know. This is one of the most beautiful places in England with great scenery & many attractions to visit. Visit Wast Water voted Britain's favourite view, take a boat ride on Lake Windermere. Take a ride on the Haverthwaite to Lakeside steam train traversing through the hills. For the more energetic there are fabulous walks for example in Grizedale forest along with Go Ape or water sports on offer. With some fantastic castles including Muncaster & large stately homes such as Levens Hall to visit you could come back to the lakes year after year and discover something new. Visit the lake district tourist information website for a more comprehensive list of activities.

The Lodge has a comprehensive guide of places to visit in the Lakes, Lancashire and Yorkshire Dales to browse at your leisure.

Carnforth is small town but with lots of intresting things to do. The old Railway station has been restored to bring it back to its glory days of steam & this is where Brief Encounter was filmed and houses a heritage centre. You can also enjoy a snack or light bite in the fully restored refreshment room where Laura and Alec first met. It also has an exhibition which shows Carnforth's contribution in the 1st and 2nd world wars.

With Morecambe only a short drive away why not visit the Grade ii listed Victoria Pavillion better known as Morecambe's Winter Gardens or the statue of the towns famous son Eric Bartholomew better known as Eric Morecambe. With a golden sandy beach this will keep the kids amused all day.

Why not visit Historic Lancaster, a beautiful city steeped in history with an incredibly varied shopping hub. From the hustle and bustle of the European Markets to the quiet street cafe's there's always something special round the corner here for you. With it's natural beauty and the cosmopolitan buzz of the streets, Lancaster is a unique, magical place to visit all year round.

Kendal is home to a fine selection of shopping arcades, can boast two castles, two museums, a host of historical buildings and bridges, fine restaurants and a multitude of public houses. Kendal is often seen as the Southern gateway to the Lake District, being only around 9 miles from Windermere and around 30 miles from Keswick. The other lakes are all within an hour or two's travelling by car from the town, as are locations for walks and rambles, both gentle and demanding.

"Lovely lodge, very peaceful"

Very clean and well presented lodge close to the lake with added bonus of the hot tub. Spent the week there and had a peaceful week relaxing and accessing the beautiful surroundings. The lakes, morcambe, lancaster are only a short drive away. A great stay.

"Luxury, comfort, every box ticked!"

Wanting a relaxing couple of days away with my partner we looked as several log cabins, then we came across 46 Gressingham Lodge and knew we need look no further. The pictures made it look good but in fact they don't do the lodge enough justice. It was better than expected. The resort was so easy to find just off the M6, the lodge on the site was a little harder to find but after the first time of finding it we were okay. The resort is a beautiful setting and all you could ask for. The facilities on site are also excellent as we used the lakeside bar and restaurant on one of the nights. The other night we ventured into nearby Carnforth were we also found a Tesco to stock up on goodies for the stay. The Lodge itself is so spacious and set out well, I loved the amount of windows in the living room for the great views. The bedrooms are set out well and the main bedroom had a fantastic en-suite. Then there is the fantastic Hot-Tub, I didn't use this myself but the missus did and loved it, even though the weather was a bit dull this brightened up her day. Would I stay again: Without Doubt. When:Hopefully Soon Even leaving outside reception hours we were able to leave the key with the Leisure Center staff to hand to reception when open.

"excellant retreat with exceptional standards"

From the initial contact with the owners who made the booking process quick and easy upon arrival both myself and my partner where very pleased with the initial presentation of the property, once we had settled in every possible attention to detail was catered for even the provision of dishwasher tablets all the amenities that was described more than met our expectation with quality clean and cared for furnishings. the whole time we where there every possible need was thought of with clear guidance notes for use of all the equipment provided. The external hot tub was kept to a very high standard and was utilized on several occasions in summary we had a great time and will be using this accommodation again and be highly recommending to friends and family a credit to the owners Thank You
