The Wales region

Carmarthenshire is a gem - award winning beaches, mountains, rivers, scenery - all close to Pen Y Garn Cottage. There is excellent local food, local culture and history. Plenty of great restaurants and pubs, and activities for all ages. Lovely old market towns and castles - lots of castles!

Carmarthenshire is the Home of Myths and Legends!

Carmarthen

Foelgastell is just off the A48 so it is quickly accessible to the road network (the Cottage is 8 minutes from the end of the M4). Drive to Burry Port ot Pembrey Country Park for 8 miles of award winning Cefan Sidan Beach. These are about 30 minutes away. The Black Mountain in the Brecon Beacons has a fabulous road to try - you may have seen it on Top Gear - and the Brecon Beacons are 45 minutes drive. Or you can just walk in the quiet lanes or the woods and historic limestone quarry at the bottom of the Cottage garden.

Our nearby farmshop provides excellent local meat and dairy products. 2 microbreweries in the next villages for those who like real beers.

Some guests just like to chill out here because it is so tranquil. On a clear night you can sit on the terrace and watch the stars. See fabulous sunsets and the wildlife in the garden particularly our birds - woodpeckers, nuthatches, great tits, goldfinches, jays, or one of the passing visitors. Overhead you will see and hear buzzards and red kites.
