Location description from owner
The Wales region
Cottage Gwyn sits at the at the top of Ceibwr Lane in the picture postcard village of Moylegrove and enjoys views over the valleys and into woodland. A short walk down the lane brings you to the Bay itself, which adjoins the Irish sea and is sometimes home to Atlantic grey seals! Here in Pembrokeshire our landscapes are dramatic and spectacular. This is a wonderful place to come with your dogs, as there are so many interesting and fun walks and welcoming places to eat and drink. The sandy beaches of Poppet Sands and Newport Beach are within easy reach. The cottage is ideally located for walkers and climbers; the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path is within walking distance and there are a number of walks suitable from beginner level up to the most experienced. For those who enjoy cycling, running and jogging, there are numerous challenging routes available. Many artists and photographers find the ever changing skies and seascapes a great source of inspiration. And, of course, there is always time to sit down and just relax and take in the views! There are many excellent pubs and restaurants in the area, ranging from the more modest through to high end dining. The historic town of Cardigan is a short drive away and is home to a cinema and theatre, as well as many independent shops and craftwork. The Castell Henllys Iron Age Fort reconstuction is situated in the rugged north Pembrokeshire landscape and realistically reproduces life as it was over 2000 years ago. A programme of events including children's acitivities, craft demonstrations and guided tours are held throughout the year.
At walking distance from the cottage there are two lovely woodland walks, and the coastal path can be joined at Ceibwr Bay, at the bottom of the lane. The Bay itself is a significant bird habitat and is well known too for the dramatic and beautiful geological features. Atlantic grey seals are often seen here and dolphins have been spotted from the coastal path. The high landscape at Ceibwr Bay is made up of spectacular cliff folds originally formed by glacial erosion. A visit to the Witches' Cauldron, a collapsed cave within the formation, is highly recommended and you can walk there from the cottages. Lots of watersports and activities take place from Ceibwr Bay and it is possible to arrange for hire of equipment and to take part in locally organsised groups.Nearby Nearby, and ideal for walking, are Poppit Sands and Newport Beach. Dogs are welcome all year round, with any restrictions on some parts in peak season only. The 'Poppit Rocket' bus service stops near to the cottages and runs to the local beaches several times a day during peak season and on a reduced timetable off peak. Dogs are welcome on board. As well as a round of golf on its beautiful course, the Golf Club at Newport also offers an excellent menu and bar. The views at sunset are breathtaking. The historic town of Cardigan is only a short drive away (or use the Poppit Rocket if you don't feel like driving). As well as restaurants, pubs and local independent shops, there is also Cardigan Castle, a theatre and a cinema. There is a large Tescos too and a lovely farm shop that caters for dogs as well as the larger animals! We are happy to recommend dog friendly places during your stay.

“Beautiful location - friendly and inviting hosts”
The cottage is just perfect for up to four people whether they are a traditional family of four or four adults or any other permutation. It's snug and charming in the cottage. The whole place has a warm and inviting feel and the owners of the cottage are brilliantly warm and friendly. The kitchen is small but practical with the context of a short stay. The outside sitting area is perhaps a little small for just lounging around in for long, but the nearby bay of Ceibwr and the local spots of extreme beauty that surround the cottage in general, more than make up for this. It is only a short 12-15 minute stroll to Ceibwer bay and the bay itself has breathtaking ocean view scenery, The only negative aspect of our stay was a very practical one and one that could be easily remedied. The mattresses were very uncomfortable, so uncomfortable that we used extra duvets for the base layer of where we slept, but all three of us, including our spritely 8 year old suffered with back ache and we all had a number of poor nights sleep. Overall though, this is an excellent choice of cottage, with awe-inspiring surroundings and easy access to two large sandy beaches, as well as the amazing Witch's cauldron and the stunning Ceibwr bay. The hosts are excellent and more than happy to lend you their extensive knowledge of the area and are respectful of your privacy. In summary, a beautiful stay, which with some small practical adjustments to the sleeping arrangements would be even more perfect.
“Fabulous place to stay with your dog!!”
What a fabulous little cottage, fully equipped and with a lovely log burner for when it gets cool at night. Myself and my Mother thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our dogs + 1 extra, the lovely Jay was so accommodating and gave me some really useful information regarding walks in the area. This was a brilliant location for travelling to and exploring the surrounding towns and beaches. Poppit sands really was doggy heaven, all the dogs loved it. My only comment would be that maybe new mattress's would be a good idea, but then again it may be because I need a very soft mattress due to joint problems, however that said this truly is a wonderful little doggy heaven and I hope to return here again very soon.
Stayed during the august bank holiday weekend and had a fab time taking part on the village scarecrow hunt. The cottage was well presented and the tea and biscuits were appreciated after the journey. I can recommend the local garden centre cafe for a cream tea and newport for eating out. The communication before the visit was excellent and we were mad to feel welcome upon our arrival.
“Great little place - IDEAL for dog owners!”
My wife and I and our two mutts had a great time here. The cottage is comfortable (and the wireless connection VERY appreciated for someone who has to stay in contact when away with work) but its the location for dog owners that really sells it. With the paddock 10 yards form our door it made our time there really easy having somewhere so close and fenced in we could let our dogs run around in first thing in the morning and last thing at night. Two great beaches nearby (Poppit Sands and Newport) both dog friendly helped and all of Pembrokeshire easily accessible. Some great places to eat within easy driving distance and plenty of other walks made this a fantastic break. Helped by the micro climate that is West Wales weather - how we laughed at all the rain at home while basking in beautiful sunshine nearly all week! Badgers and Foxes both spotted within 200 yards of the cottage and we saw Porpoises and Seals off the coast overlooking skomer in St Brides Bay. And tons of Buzzards too.
