"Perfect International Destination for Group of Friends for 2015 RWC"

Myself and seven friends rented the Hafod Lodge for the last week of September as we were visiting the UK for the Rugby World Cup. The house was incredibly spacious for the eight of us (it would be comfortable with so many more people!) and had all of the amenities we could have possibly needed. We had tickets to matches in Cardiff, and the proximity to the city was perfect. Mary was incredibly helpful with setting us up with things we needed before we arrived, including recommending taxi companies, where to order groceries from, etc. Although we could have spent every day lounging in the heated pool or relaxing in the hot tub, we still went out every day as the Lodge is so close to great places. Cardiff is about 15 minutes away, easy to get to by car or taxi and a wonderful place to spend a day exploring the castle or just shopping and drinking. Other days we explored nearby attractions including Caerphilly Castle, the Brecon Beacons national park, and the delightful vineyard that is directly across from the lodge. This was an absolutely wonderful stay and I'm sure there isn't a better place we could have stayed. The layout of the Lodge allows large groups to have great social spaces, enjoy meals and cooking together, and relax in the evenings in the hot tub outside. We will definitely recommend this place to others, as well as try to make it back again ourselves. Tips for others/recommendations for the owners: - The wifi connection is really only available in one room, not a deal breaker but it would be great to have it throughout the Lodge - There is no coffee maker.. I'm not sure if this is as big of an issue for everyone else but we ended up getting our own to bring with us - We didn't realize there wouldn't be an ice maker in the freezer and were without ice for a couple days, it's easy to buy one at the local grocery store, just something we hadn't thought about ahead of time I highly recommend booking the Lodge for groups of all sizes and families or friends, we had an incredible time and can't thank Mary enough for all of her help!

"Great place to stay"

Hafod Lodge is in the ideal location just a couple of miles from J34 of the M4. It is next to a hospital and The Vale Golf Resort so there is some commercial traffic first thing in the morning that will wake up a light sleeper, not too early though. Most of the day it's peaceful and nice and quiet in the evening. The pool and hot tub are lovely, the grounds are well kept and there is more than enough outside seating. The lodge has everything you will need but could do with a little more attention to bring it up to a 5 star rating. Every toilet seat in the lodge was ill fitting, The huge downstairs lodge shower cubicle had nowhere to rest your shower gel so you had to leave it on the floor. There is a sky package but only in the lounge and the wifi is weak and only usable if you are sat in the lthere. Decent wifi is a must these days. People tend to gravitate to the kitchen and a tiny investment would get the sky working on the lovely flat screen in there. The dishwasher bottom tray had a broken wheel which meant that every time you pulled it out it crashed in the hinge gap. Quite a problem when you have the weight of 20 or so plates to lift out. Don't let these minor issues put you off because this is great place, it just needs a few minor tweaks to bring it up to five stars.

"Fantastic weekend away with the guys at a fantastic lodge"

What a great house! Great for partying in the hot tub or heated swimming pool or great for relaxing in the middle of the countryside in peace a quiet. The property managers were great with us and really made us feel welcome when showing us around the property. All the rooms were brilliant and perfect for the 15 of us. The kitchen was great for hosting and really well stocked. The pool and tub were brilliant and we were hardly ever out of them. Perfect location for a group gathering and only a 10 minute taxi ride from Cardiff city centre. Would recommend to all.

"Wedding accommodation & after party!"

We booked the lodge for our wedding at the nearby vineyard to accommodate the large number of friends/family who were staying from the North. We couldn't have asked for a better place! The pool and hot-tub were used well after the wedding celebration finished, with no neighbours you can have a blast in the massive garden until you get too tired to carry on. Full Sky Sports helped the hangovers the following day. Two big BBQs went down a storm, we had around 40 people in the garden comfortably for lunch. I can't speak highly enough of the place and the manager who ensured we had everything we needed. Great place.

"The ideal venue"

I have stayed here both for a short holiday break and, most recently for a business conference. It is beautifully private, yet towns and other facilities are within easy reach. Every need is catered for and a t a very reasonable cost. Can't wait to go again.

"What a unique place to stay"

Our large family group of 16 (8 adults & 8 children) recently stayed at Hafod Lodge for 5 nights. We absolutely loved the character of the house ! We had plenty of room to accommodate everyone and the kids were well entertained with the pool and spa. Mary was extremely helpful with directions to the local amenities (only a short 5 min drive away to a very large supermarket). The house is well located close to Cardiff for sightseeing, but is also a great retreat away from the city. We would recommend Hafod Lodge to anyone seeking a relaxing stay in Wales and hopefully will return in the future.

"Fetching lodge with a plethora of charm"

It was the perfect place for a group of 9 to have a relaxing time whilst making sure to stay up late and socialise in the pool and hot tub into the wee hours of the morning. The house is well stocked and we cooked some amazing meals and made sure to make use of the BBQ too. We definitely recommend it. The lady was lovely and are thinking of coming again maybe next year.

"What a luxury.."

What a lovely place for a family holiday, everyone had an amazing time, we took 3 young children with us who thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and although the weather was not great we still managed to make full use of the pool and hot tub, the lodge was fully equipt with everything we needed, we will definitely be returning in the future, wonderful!!

"A gorgeous holiday home making the perfect setting for our hen weekend."

We rented this house for my sisters hen party for all of our family and close friends. There was plenty of room for everyone and as we had a mixed age range we were able to split the rooms very nicely. The Friday night we hosted an all American pool party and BBQ as it was 4th July. The heated outdoor pool is simply stunning and the area well lit in the evening. The giant Jacuzzi was an added bonus as this wasn't installed when we booked. Everything you need for a BBQ is available no need to bring utensils and cutlery as we did, just bring your food and coals. On the Saturday after our morning water aerobics class we held a garden party with a fancy hat parade. It was the perfect location. In the evening we held games around the kitchen table which seats 18 so had plenty of room for us all. The lounge and conservatory and also great spaces to chill out. Cardiff is really close by so you could take a trip into town for a night out, however we had so much fun at the house we really wouldn't want to. I'm not sure the guide tells you how close this is to Cardiff or the M4. It's a real paradise within 2/3 minutes rive of the motorway (no noise) It's idyllic. My recommendations close by would be the Llanerch Vineyard, if unlike us you want your afternoon tea served for you, pop across for this, a wine tasting session or a cookery class, on a sunny day it's like being in the South of France. The host was fab when checking in/out and couldn't do enough to help us. With a quick tour we quickly realised this house has everything, including the dryer for when our towels got soaked at the pool. I would recommend this house time and time again for a large family or friends gathering. I really wish we could have stayed forever.

"Very lovely cottage with everything we needed for an excellent holiday."

The cottage was excellent, well presented and had everything we needed for our group of 15 including 6 small children. It was a shame we couldn't use the pool due to the weather but the hot tub more than compensated for that. We thought the cottage would be in the middle of nowhere (as per the picture) but it's not. We quickly adjusted though and had a wonderful time. Thanks Mary.
