Location description from owner

The Central Portugal region

West Cost of Lisbon region/ Cascais .Lisbon, one of the oldest and most fascinating capital cities in Europe, it has everything a city can provide: a unique atmosphere, a rich history back to the time of the discoveries, good shopping, entertainment of all types and a wealth of cultural activities. 15 minutes away (car or train) from Portugal's capital city, the West Coast of Lisbon has a wonderful climate and it is a superb natural environment. Owing to a Mediterranean type micro-climate, the West Coast of Lisbon has mild winters and an ideal summer temperature which never gets too hot. The autumn is like spring.Nowhere else in the world can such dramatic changes of scenery and such contrasting atmospheres be experienced in such a small area as the West Coast of Lisbon. The region offers a wide range of different experiences all within a half hour's drive. Besides an enormous range of sights attractive to any visitor, a number of more specialised interests can also be pursued.

Carcavelos

Cascais - Carcavelos area.Carcavelos, it 's an old land of vineyards , like " quinta da Alagoa ", where some years ago it was produced the famous Carcavelos wine . Nowadays we still can visit this farm (just 3 minutes walk), and see its lake inside a beauthiful garden, playground and tennis court . The restaurants, 3 minute from this apartment, in Rebelva, are well known for a good quality of food and good wines.Every thursday, there is a wonderful street market where everyone can buy clothing and other utilities for a good price, just 10 minutes away. The famous beach of Carcavelos , just nearby, is famous for surf sport all year, even in winter and has also good bars, all year open. Carcavelos also marks the mouth of the Tejo River. To the east side of the Carcavelos beach there is a huge fortification named Forte de São Julião da Barra. It was used to protect the Tejo river entrance from enemy ships. Cascais was originally a small fishing port with tourism and a variety of properties situated on the sea front, it has now developed over the years into a very high standard place to live for many Portuguese. The town centre has kept its charm with a good selection of restaurants, shops, lively bars all located within the narrow cobbled streets. The village is loved for its mild climate, unspoilt beaches, and breath taking scenery, making it an ideal holiday destination for families and experienced travellers alike, with lots of entertainment, like theatre, a big casino, Cidadela fortress, shoping in lovely streets, restaurants, beautiful gardens, beaches and a nice marina . We can walking along the boardwalking by the sea, seeing the nice coast , from Cascais to Carcavelos.
