Getting around

From the apartment you can easily walk to all the main attractions in Carcassonne or take a train to places such as Toulouse, Narbonne or Collioure. The bus station is two minutes walk from the apartment and you can get buses all around Carcassonne and some villages. In the region itself there are some attractions such as Cathar castles where a car is necessary although there are companies which offer tours.

Interaction with guest

We offer a free pick up from Carcassonne airport or train station. We live locally all year around and usually we meet all of our guests on arrival ( very occasionally we leave keys in a keysafe if guests are arriving late). On arrival we hand over keys and answer any questions, give restaurant recommendations, upcoming events and other things to do. Once guests have settled in we do not bother them unless they need our assistance. Where possible we take guests back to the airport or train station free of charge. We have many guests who come to buy a property in the region so we are always happy to assist with any advice and also have many repeat visitors.

“Well located, fab apartment with a great terrace!”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2017

Perfectly located between the old Cite and the bastide - right by the old bridge. A great home from home - well equipped apartment, very spacious, modern interior, very well equipped kitchen with all mod cons. We stayed as a family of 4 for a week and it was very easy to all have our own space (teenage kids) if required, very good internet - fab for keeping kids happy! Although we hardly used the lounge spent all the time on terrace which was perfect spot - got morning sun so great to sit at breakfast and because it was covered provided a perfect evening retreat when back from a busy day out in the sun, to relax. The host Jason was great - even providing transfer to & from airport which was close by so very soon after landing was already enjoying the partial view of "la Cite" with a drink on the terrace. Would recommend this apartment for anyone wanting to enjoy the sights and experience the culture of the area, we didn't hire a car because it was so easy to get around on public transport if required such as the lake with a fab beach only 1 Euro. Would stay here again!

“Great apartment with a close location to the castle”

Reviewed 9 Sep 2013

We had a very enjoyable 11 night stay at Apartement Ney which is ideally placed to access both La Cite (Carcassonne Castle) and La Bastide St Louis (the old town with shops/restaurants). The apartment was in an old building but has been renovated to a high standard for modern living and with two children, the wifi access and British freeview tv channels were fab! There is a good selection of English books, as well as cards and board games. The kitchen is very well equipped, with a good sized fridge and great cooker and all the utensils you would need for your stay. The dining table extended to so plenty of room for family meals. Fans are provided in each bedroom which made a big difference and made sleeping very comfortable in the city summer heat. The bathroom is modern with a lovely corner shower and everything was very clean upon our arrival. The pretty roof terrace, overlooking the castle and rooftops, made for a great setting and enabled us to spread out more and do our own thing. We loved the area and found that we visited La Cite everyday, even though the walk up was steep!! People in Carcassonne were very friendly and the city is well adapted for tourists without feeling too touristy. There are plenty of restaurants/cafes for meals out and pretty squares in which to have a relaxing drink and people watch. For children, there are the Aqualand water parks not too far away and beautiful beaches close by (we went to Gruissan Plage, near Narbonne (45mins) and Canet-Plage (1hr 30), which were both stunning. If we went to Carcassonne again, we would definitely book Apartement Ney; it's the perfect size for a family or couple or even a single person on their own and only being a 10 minute walk to La Cite makes it ideal if you want to immerse yourself in history. The owners were really helpful when we needed to contact them prior to the holiday and met us at the property, giving us lots of info on the local area. Our kids loved Carcassonne....especially Les Chevaliers de la Cite (their medieval re-enactment performance and riding skills were amazing!).

“Beautiful flat with a fantastic view”

Reviewed 6 Jul 2013

A really lovely apartment - comfortable, spacious, and probably the best equipped holiday flat we have rented. The terrace is the high point with a splendid view of the old cite - perfect for relaxing with an early evening aperitif! The owner is friendly and very helpful. We will rent this flat again, and recommend it to our friends without hesitation.

“Lovely apartment in central location”

Reviewed 27 May 2013

This apartment is ideally situated, within easy walking distance of all sights. The covered balcony is lovely and kept us cool during the heat of the day. Good views from here at night too. Must mention the friendly and helpful apartment owner. Being picked up from the airport was a very relaxing way to start our holiday.

“Perfect location with wonderful roof terrace.”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2013

I travelled with 4 women friends, all in our 50/60s. Apartment Ney is on the top floor so a bit of a climb, but the roof terrace made it well worth it. Wonderful to have outside space. We could walk easily to the old cite or, in the other direction, to the newer town and we enjoyed exploring both. The apartment is spacious and comfortable with an efficient shower and ample facilities for self-catering. If there was a drawback, it was the idiosyncratic key/lock system. Only one of our party (my sister the estate agent!) was able to operate the lock! However, we would all recommend this apartment as a reasonably-priced, convenient location for a break in the very interesting town of Carcassonne

Owner's reply: These guests have highlighted the ideal position of the apartment between the town centre and the Medieval Cite- easy walking distance to both. They also mention a problem with the lock on the entrance door due to the lock sticking. As soon as we were aware of this, we called a locksmith and the problem was resolved immediately. The lock is usually very user friendly and we've had no problems before or since.
