Description

12/29/2012. "Wonderful property, congratulations to the owners for the selection of this homestead with its own cove". Hawks Cry is located at the northern most tip of the island, where the trade winds are refreshing. The spacious interior has been professionally designed to reflect Caribbean outdoor living. There are beautiful views down into the cove below and across to Martinique. Hawks Cry is an ideal retreat for couples, or perfect for a group of family or friends and their children. The bi-fold balcony doors give open air living to the house. We have had several honeymooners who all adored Hawks Cry. The first wedding took place here in August 2014, planned by Kayte from Awesome Caribbean Weddings. Cassandra Black, the opera singer, and her husband said, "We can't praise the place enough. It was simply surreal to have our happy moment there. Many thanks, Cassandra & James Baxter" Perfect for weddings, honeymooners, bird watchers, kite surfers and sailors,

Further details indoors

Hawks Cry stands on six and a half acres of land, purchased by the present owners and their partners at the time. The views over the ocean to Martinique and the nearby hillsides are truly spectacular. The temperature varies between 28 and 35 degrees throughout the year. As Hawks Cry is in the north of the island, the rainfall is less than the south. The mountains in the centre of the island, generate clouds, providing moisture to the rain forest. Often you can see rain in the distance, leaving the north sunny. The gardens are landscaped with palms, tropical flowers and colourful shrubs which attract Humming Birds to feed from the blossoms. The entrance into the property leads into a light and airy open plan kitchen and dining area. The kitchen is of Italian design with black granite worktops and a breakfast bar. The dining room sits 8 comfortably. The present owners have used natural materials to tastefully decorate all areas including Humming Birds and local fish and flowers on the mosquito nets and beaded tie-backs to the voile curtains. Driftwood, sea fans and bamboo, found on the beaches and in the hills, enhance Hawks Cry. A lovely feature is the sand decorated splash back above the cooker. Leading from the entrance, is a tastefully furnished living room with cable TV, DVD player and Docking Station. Air Conditioning and Ceiling Fans are fitted in all living and bedroom areas, except for Sapphire Bedroom, which has air conditioning only. The living room has 2 bi-fold doors leading to a large balcony with wonderful uninterrupted sea views over Anse Galet Cove and Martinique. The balcony area has 2 comfortable settees with a glass topped coffee table, making it ideal for snacks, a glass of chilled wine, or cocktails at sunset. A glass topped dining table and seating offers alfresco dining as a tempting alternative. The Powder Room is accessed from the Living Room. The property has dual voltage (220/110 volt). Hair dryers are provided in all bedrooms. 2 safes are provided for guest valuables. On the top floor, the Emerald Master Bedroom is spacious, with a high cathedral ceiling. The en suite, with Italian marble, has double sinks, and a lovely walk in shower with seating. A bathtub with shower makes a pleasant alternative. Downstairs, on the lower level, the Opal and Ruby Bedrooms have king sized beds, en suites, and large walk in closets. Ruby has a balcony, whereas Opal has a Romeo and Juliet window. The two single beds in the Sapphire bedroom can be converted into a King Size Bed with prior notice. The playroom is ideal for the younger members of the family. It is cool and safe as there is no outside access. A desk, chairs, books, crayons and puzzle books are provided. Please note. If children use this area, the balcony doors on that floor should be locked for safety reasons.

Location description from owner

The St. Lucia region

Cap Estate is a former sugar plantation. It has a rugged coastline with small glorious sandy bays interspersed by rocky coves making swimming, snorkelling and diving idyllic. Local fisherman can be seen laying and hauling their nets from colourful boats around the coastline, their catches destined for the local fish markets. The St. Lucia Golf and Country Club has an 18 hole USPGA course 5 minutes from Hawks Cry. Kite Surfing and Horse Riding are available at nearby Cas en Bas beach. Pony trekking on coastal and inland trails is a lovely way to see the local area. A delightful and exciting experience is to ride your horse bareback in the sea. Cas en Bas also boasts a Kite Surfing School.

Cap Estate

Cap estate is a highly desirable area to visit, boasting beautiful private properties with stunning gardens. Pigeon Island is a short drive away. It is managed by St. Lucia National Trust and is a World Heritage Site. A visit to explore the historical fort remains, is very worthwhile. Pigeon Island is one of the sites which hosts the internationally famous St. Lucia Jazz & Arts Festival in May annually. St. Lucia Carnival is held annually in July. Beausejour Cricket Stadium is nearby, where test match cricket can be watched. The Tennis Club is adjacent. The Jump Up Street Party in Gros Islet, takes place every Friday evening of the year, except for Good Friday. The Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (The ARC), which is the largest transocean sailing event in the world, leaves Las Palmas in the Canaries each November and finishes in Rodney Bay. The journey takes on average between 14 and 21 days.

“A superb place for a holiday”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2013

“Hawk’s Cry”, St Lucia We have very recently returned from a fortnight at Hawk’s Cry, a house in the Cap Estate in the north of St Lucia. We can state without qualification that it was a marvellous experience in every respect. The development is new, spacious, beautifully appointed and maintained. Its facilities are excellent, with everything to hand for a most comfortable stay, a superb swimming pool on the site and a tranquil atmosphere. We were advised before we arrived of the presence of building work in the immediate vicinity and so were on the look-out for possible disturbance. A combination of very effective double-glazing, the aspect of the house being away from the work and any noise being slight meant we suffered no problems whatsoever. We enjoyed Caribbean weather, a most hospitable population and care and attention from our hosts to ensure a most satisfying and memorable holiday. We can thoroughly recommend a stay at Hawk’s Cry (complete with passing hawk!) Carolyn and David Styan Costa Brava, Spain April 2012

Thank you for your review on Hawks Cry. It is very good of you to take the time to do this. Your comments matter and help us to improve Hawks Cry for the future. For your information the construction work in the immediate vicinity was completed late in 2013.

“Heaven on Earth”

Reviewed 29 Jan 2013

I have been twice to "Hawks Cry" and will go again. My favourate beach is on Pidgeon Island, small and beautiful with local bar and resturaunt. Lots of shopping and good resturaunts in nearby Rodney Bay. Try Spinnakers resturaunt - right on the beach - good food and atmosphere. Hire a car and drive around the island and see the Pitons, or just relax around the pool and enjoy the wonderful weather.
