Description from owner

Description

Heathwood Lodge was built in 1910, not originally as a bed & breakfast house but as a Summer residence for a business family who lived and traded in nearby Folkestone. Having typically high Edwardian ceilings and Victorian styled fireplaces, the complete house was originally internally boarded out with a pine boarding which was designed to act as insulation both in Summer and Winter. Guests will be pleased to know that full central heating is installed throughout together with water softening and a pressurised hot water system. One special architectural feature of the house is the coloured glass top hung window sashes which are typical of the late Victorian period. All B&B guests have a full opportunity to enjoy the relaxing flower filled garden at any time with tea and refreshments available on better weather days.

The house is set in a very rural, quiet area of six acres with excellent walking/hiking, cycling or horse riding facilities on the immediate doorstep.

The village of Stelling Minnis is in itself set in a unique environment with many acres of ‘common land’ with a discreet and varied collection of houses with some so well tucked away they are difficult to find. An excellent local village shop and PO are central to the village way of life as are the nearby pubs.

We offer the following:

Three period double bedrooms all en suite with colour satellite TV reception

Tea and coffee making facilities in each room.

Excellent home cooked breakfasts from our comprehensive menu with homemade bread and eggs from own hens.

Relaxing environment in quiet rural position

Horse holidays (with own horse) in exciting and different country

Very close proximity to Dover (20 minutes) the Tunnel (15 minutes)

First class base for walking/hiking exploration.

Perfect cyclists touring base with secure bike storage.

Quiet dedicated base for limited tent campers.

Excellent for touring Golf breaks.

Wildlife is in its element. You may well see foxes, pheasants, rabbits and badgers. On clear nights the stars are amazing due to low light pollution. Owls and seasonal nightingale are often heard in the adjacent woodland.
