Location description from owner

The Scotland region

Built above the conservation village of Tomich, in an exceptionally peaceful corner of the Scottish Highlands, Tomich Holidays is based at Guisachan Farm, which forms part of the historic Guisachan Estate, surrounded by native woodland. On the hills above lie several lochs, neighbouring the RSPB reserve at Corrimony. The natural beauty of the surrounding area is interwoven with woodland tracks to explore, hidden waterfalls, sparkling hill lochs, all amidst tranquillity where you can listen to the birds, revel in the abundant wildlife or stroll through the National Nature Reserve between the ancient Caledonian pine woods.

Plan your activities from Tomich, whether walking along the banks of Loch Ness, mountain biking for miles in any direction or touring the Western Isles. Tomich Holidays makes the perfect base for everything.

Cannich

There is lots to do for all the family. Traffic-free forest lanes and woodland tracks lead off from each property, with every chance of spotting the abundant wildlife - stags, birds, red squirrels etc. For the more adventurous, you can hire mountain bikes on-site to explore beautiful Glen Affric and beyond or book some pony trekking in a remote Highland settlement, just 6 miles from Tomich. The Highland scenery is truly spectacular, with hidden waterfalls, sparkling hill lochs, snow topped mountains to climb. The Highland capital of Inverness is just an 40 minute drive, with such historical sites as the Culloden Battlefield and Fort George. Loch Ness is a 20 minute drive and you can explore in a motor boat, or venture out on a speed boat - ideal for the thrill seeker. There you can visit Uruqhart Castle on the shores of Loch Ness. We will be delighted to tailor make your trip, so please contact the office for further details or let us know if you have any particular interests.

“Beautiful scenery”

Reviewed 3 Jan 2017

Very remote location and although they claimed to have a wifi hotspot not one of our party even had a mobile signal let alone internet access. Fine if you are looking for total escape but be wary if you need to be contactable. Well equipped cottage overall but a couple of things let it down. Lack of basic cutlery and dinnerware. There was a coffee pot, whisk, grater which is all well and good but enough plates and cups etc to cover meals for 4 adults without having to run the dishwasher 3 times in the one day would be more practical especially as due to the remote location we were cooking each meal as too far for takeaway or delivery and the local hotel is closed until February. While the cottage appeared clean and certainly the bedding, living areas were very clean, there were cobwebs hanging from every ceiling, light fixture etc and cobwebs the entire length of kitchen wall above fridge and sink area. Attention to detail and use of a feather duster would improve this greatly

Thank you for your review and we were disappointed to hear that there were sertain aspects of your holiday which were not what you anticipated. The wi-fi hotspot is located in the Games Room rather than in each individual property and your information folder would have directed you to the games room for internet access but you are correct to point out that there is no mobile phone reception. Providing additional cookware is something we will certainly think about to ensure that you are not spending too much holiday time on those household chores. We would have been able to supply additional crockery etc. if we had known at the time that this would have helped. I will also speak to our housekeeping team about the cobweb issue so thank you for pointing that out.

“Georgeously Peaceful setting”

Reviewed 10 Nov 2016

I absolutely loved this place. The setting is somewhat remote and would not suit people who prefer busier places. The lodge itself was brilliant value for money. I did enjoy this holiday and would like to go back, however I could only recommend this location to friends who like peace and quiet, and who do not mind the travelling. All in all, a great holiday, which was thoroughly enjoyed!!!

“Peaceful & Tranquil”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2015

We were welcomed as we arrived in a warm and friendly way and were able to ask any questions about the area and property. The Woodland Lodge was very comfortable and plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 children. The views were amazing so many trees and mountains. The children enjoyed the playground and we all enjoyed the games room and the swimming pool was lovely, warm and clean. It was great to go for walks in the woods and get away from it all. We enjoyed visits from Oscar the cat! Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to get away from city life. However we could of done with a pair of tongs in the kitchen! Next time please could we order some warm weather!!

Thank you for your lovely review and we will try very hard on the weather front for your next visit. Best wishes Gina
