This little detached hideaway is perfect for a romantic retreat from everyday life. Il Paradiso is a lovingly renovated one bedroom detached house with private pool, in the midst of the countryside, surrounded by open views of countryside with a stunning mountain backdrop to the front and side, and chestnut woodland behind. Who could resist?

Situated in very rural position there is a traditional Italian mountain village less than 2km away has a bar and shop, is ideal for essentials and sitting with a drink taking in local life.

The property is also less than 10 minute drive from the larger village of Piazza al Serchio with all facilities including traditional shops, supermarket and Tuesday morning market when the small village really comes alive. There are also some bars, a couple of restaurants a river and a train station for easy exploring.

At home your base is a one bedroom detached cottage sleeping 2 plus 2 which has been recently restored by the owner using chestnut wood from the grounds..

Most of the furniture is handmade by the owner including the kitchen, and he has restored the house with the traditional Garfagnana feel in mind.

There are chesnut windows, beamed ceilings, and traditional flooring throughout.

A real rustic feel, but with high quality solid finishings.

On the ground floor there is a living area with fireplace and sofabed, TV/DVD/WIFI, leading through to kitchen/dining area which is equipped with oven, hob, fridge/freezer, microwave and washing machine.

Also on this floor is a modern shower room, complete with shower cubicle, WC, sink and bidet.

On the first floor there is a mezzanine style double bedroom which takes in that amaxing vista, guaranteed to give instant relaxation!

Externally, the property is set in a secluded position in the midst of a 'campo' surrounded by woodland and mountains.

Here one finds your own compact private pool for sunbathing around and for cooling off, outdoor eating area, BBQ and of course parking.

Why not get away from reality now?

And the area:

Situated 1.6km from an ancient traditional Italian mountain village which has a bar and shop, which is ideal for essentials and sitting with a drink taking in local life.

The property is also less than a 10 minute drive from the larger village of Piazza al Serchio with all facilities including traditional shops, supermarket and Tuesday morning market when the small village really comes alive. There are also some bars, a couple of restaurants a river and a train station for easy exploring.

Whilst in the depths of the countryside, the house is well located for exploring the local market town of Catselnuovo which is a 20 minute or so drive, the gorgeous and popular mediaeval town of Barga which is a 35 minute drive and the stunning walled mediaeval city of Lucca which is say 1 hour and 10 minutes away. Pisa, with its leaning tower is a 90 minute drive, and one can visit Florence in 2 hours. The famous Wind Caves are a 45 minute drive.

Closer to home there are plenty of little historic villages to visit, many of which have local festas in the summer. There are also the lakes of Gramalazzo, Vagli (with its hidden village submerged by the water) and Pontecosi, and some guests love to swim in the river. The property is also ideally located for visiting the local Fortress at Verrucole which is a good afternoon out, with stunning views and some interactive activities for the children. Also close by is the Buffardello tree climbing and zip wire park (ideal for both adults and children of all ages with a variety of runs) where one can take a picnic and spend the entire day in the welcome shade of the forest.

The real beauty of this area is the dramatic mountain scenery, and the hundreds of hilltop villages to explore, endless picnicking opportunities, and the pure peace of a non touristy holiday ......

Location description from manager

The Tuscany region

The mediaeval town of Barga, is well known for its art, music, restaurants and great views.

There are hilly windy cobbled streets, little piazzas, gelaterias, art galleries and restaurants, all settled beneath, 10th Century cathedral complete with 'Duomo'.

There are often outdoor concerts/plays performed many times free of charge with performances ranging from Rock and Pop, to Jazz and the Classics and in the summer there are regular festas and 'markets under the stars'.

All this is a short walk from the property so the location really is ideal!

Barga itself is circa 1 hour 15 mins from Pisa,

1 hr 40 mins from Florence;

50 minutes from the beautiful walled mediaeval city of Lucca

and close to the National Parks of the Apuane Alps.

Camporgiano

visit to Lucca is a must, with its fully intact walls which you can cycle around, gorgeous architecture, 99 churches (!), coffee bars, restaurants large piazza's & real Italian atmosphere.

There are lots of cultural events, regular antiques markets, concerts, opera (there is a performance of operatic songs every evening) , and & of course the designer shops!

Lucca Summer festival, held in July also attracts many famous Acts.
