HOME AWAY FROM HOME!!!

A guest's review - 'We were lucky enough to be recommended to this villa by a friend. The villa was extremely clean and you could tell it had been highly maintained with regular work. It had all the bits and pieces you would expect to have at home, DVD player with DVDs, games. The resort had an outside swimming pool, a restaurant, bar and a games room. Central location to most towns in Cornwall;Delabole, Trebarwith Strand. Would definitely recommend this to a friend. Great value - definitely got your money's worth'

Location description from owner

The England region

North Cornwall is dramatic and exciting. From crashing waves to beautiful sandy or pebbled beaches there is a wide range to meet everyone's needs and tastes. There are many beautiful sights, from the North Cornwall walk, with inland walks to the nearby Rough Tor and mysterious Bodmin Moor, to villages of Port Isaac, Port Gaverne, Padstow where Rick Stein delivers delicious food, Boscastle, Tintagel, Bossiney and Bossiney Cove. To the North is the beautiful Widemouth Bay and Bude. To the South is the Eden Project, St Ives, St Michael's Mount, the delightful Mousehole and exciting Penzance.

Camelford

Camelford: is nearby, it has a local Co-op for newspapers, bacon, eggs, milk etc, Boots chemist, fresh fruit greengrocers, Spar, post office, an Award winning fish and chip shop, pasty shops, Flames (burgers...) pub, the Masons Arms for pints and pub meals, landlady (Jo) lovely, meals good........art gallery for pictures and ceramics of John Blight and other exhibiting artists.....Chinese take away, horse riding and there are several stables nearby. On site at Lanteglos there is a bar and restaurant, adult and separate child swimming pool (May-Sept), with two award winning golf courses next door (good to play and to eat). St Julitta is the Church right next door where they filmed the scene of the wedding tent collapsing when the Doctor and Louise were supposed to be married. Supermarkets are at Bodmin, Morrisons, Asda, Sainsburys, Lidl but no Aldi, best petrol prices are at Bodmin, Morrisons, or at top of hill Asda.......there is also the wonderful Bodmin Steam Railway, a lovely event where you can go up and down the line, stopping and getting back on to explore various points, great for those that love a bye gone era and the smell of steam. Check in advance as certain trains only run on certain days and if you want to see a certain engine it is best not to be disappointed. You can take a packed lunch and enjoy on or off the train, it takes you into Bodmin Parkway......it has a lovely old railway station and the volunteers dress up to take you back to olden days.If you go into Wadebridge there is a big Co-op, the Camel trail where you can hire bikes and travel safely enjoying sea views, fish and chip shops, pasties etc....numerous cafés to sit and watch the world go by, pubs with a choice of beers, coffees and meals.

Port Gaverne with its lovely, safe, quiet beach and you can walk to the top of the hill at Port Isaac, with more stunning views with sightings of seals and dolphins. You can see filming Doc Martin in Port Isaac.

Trebarwith Strand, Bossiney and Tintagel with the best beaches to sit and enjoy a glorious sunset. Bossiney Cove is just outside Tintagel going northwards where you find a lovely cove and safe beach.

There is also the lovely North Cornwall coastal path and you can actually walk right round the coast to King Arthur's castle, another wonderful place. The seas are magical in colour.

Market Day is on a Thursday in Tintagel, with locally made fudge in shop, ideal with ice cream and clotted cream, a fantastic shop with quilts and linen and much more.

Boscastle with its Harbour, lovely little shops, walks and amazing views from the headland...The Riverside does amazing food and there is also the Wellington serving pub and restaurant meals. The Wellington also featured as a subject of Most Haunted ......

Delabole has a quarry where they extract slate. Padstow with lovely beaches that go round the River Camel and the bike trail where you can hire bikes, (the other end to that of Wadebridge…) you can also get on a ferry or boat and go over to Rock or just meander around the shops.

Bude, and on the way, Crackington Haven are the scenes of many a beautiful sunset and picturesque sky.

Other things to see include the Eden Project, St Michaels Mount and St Ives with so much more. If preferred the grounds provide a safe haven to sit and enjoy peace and quiet, there is a table and chairs to eat breakfast outside, enjoy coffee and plan the day....

Interaction with guest

We are visitors on a regular basis to North Cornwall and are very happy to be able to pass our experiences on to guests as to things to do, places to visit and things to see. We also help with where it is best to shop or buy essential things like fuel. Keys are enclosed in a key pad at the property and we send key code details to each guest shortly before arrival. We are always on hand to help, being contactable by phone and email, but we do not want to be obtrusive.
