“Comfortable cottage near Cambridge”

Reviewed 1 Apr 2018

We found The Lodge to be warm and comfortable even on a wet weekend. No complaints about the sheets or towels and the kitchen seemed pretty well-equipped. We didn’t do major cooking but visited The Royal Oak in Barrington and The Green Man in Thriplow for dinner - both recommended. A warm welcome at the church across the road on Easter Sunday too!

“Didn't Meet Expectations”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2018

Ok, I have reviewed previous comment and cannot vouch for other Previous guests, but unfortunately on this occasion the lodge fell well short of expectations. The good. Jana was helpful with correspondence and friendly at all times. The ginger cat that visited us on our arrival was gorgeous. the bathroom was great, however the extraction fan did not work, Does it need replacement? The not so good. There was a van parked at the back entrance to the lodge which meant the only place we could park our car was in the dirt next to the rear fence. There was an adjacent space next to the van, however there was a do not park sign. Not easy to tramp your bags through the dirt and into the house. The beds. I'm Sure the sheets were once white, however now a shade of yellow, maybe its about time they were changed. No mattress protectors or pillow protectors. The mattresses looked old, not sure if they were. The towels were plenty, however they were as tough as 40 grit sandpaper. A small investment in fabric softener may fix this or there may maybe a lot of calcium in your town water which leads on to the kettle. it was so calcified that it couldn't be used. I tried to clean it, but it was too far gone. Water would not even filter through the strainer on the spout. We used a saucepan on the stove to boil water so as to have a cup of tea. The kitchen wasn't the cleanest. there was a steelo pad on the sink that had rust on it. There is a knife block on the kitchen bench, you may want to check it occasionally, as there is a huge chunk missing out of one of the knifes. The security gate. It may have slipped your mind that you had guests at the lodge, it would have been nice to have the code for the gate made available if you were aware it was going to be fixed. The final comment. The information booklet on the lodge was an entertaining read to say the least. I value self promotion, but that was going to extremes, Other guests may be, but I am not interested in engineers, whos doing law or who drives a Lamborghini. Give us some proper history about the town and surrounding area in more detail.

“Cambridge luxury!”

Such a beautiful place to stay! Only thing is that we only got to stay one night! Gorgeous place and amazing scenery, and the shower is just something else!

“Wonderful cottage in a beautiful village”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2017

We spent just one night at The Lodge but would have loved to have stayed for longer. The cottage is beautiful and the village is very quiet. We felt at home very quickly. It had all that we needed, a lovely kitchen and lounge with a stove, comfortable beds and bedding, an extra room in the summerhouse, a lovely garden with a trampoline for the children to spend hours on, a wood nearby and two play parks within 4 minutes, and a lovely pub called the Royal Oak which we had a beautiful meal in the evening. The children and adults loved both the house and village. Helen was incredibly friendly and was in touch by email before the stay to ensure we had all the info we needed. Would highly recommend.

“The Lodge , Barrington”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2017

Great place for a group to get together. Good facilities , lovely grounds. Great for families with younger children. Plenty of garden for them to play in and a trampoline and play area keep them busy. Great BBQ , perfect for a get together. Very easy to get into Cambridge and a fab village pub just 5 mins walk. Perfect for a long weekend.
