Description

Right next to the beach! Exciting contemporary holiday home with geothermal under-floor heating, solar water heating, and a grass roof. Inside, white walls and oak floors give Dunescape a bright, stylish, yet refined holiday ambience. Some furniture, including the king-sized bed in the master bedroom, is made from reclaimed timber from Rye Harbour.

Camber is a wonderful seaside village, offering the best sandy beach in the South East of England. Dunescape is within 100m of the gently sloping sandy beach. Camber is a mecca for windsurfers and kitesurfers, and watersports are taught both at the beach and at Rye Watersports' lake a mile away. Rye golf course is within walking distance. Dungeness RSPB reserve is a haven for rare bird species, and the local area is popular with walkers and cyclists. There are plenty of distractions for children, but that's if you can drag them away from their adventures in the sand dunes!

Location description from owner

The England region

Generally speaking, the South East has a climate that is warmer and drier than the rest of the UK. Even better news still is that Camber has its own micro-climate and often enjoys bright, sunny days when just a few miles inland the skies are grey.

The surrounding area is steeped in Natural and Historical interest, be it the enchanting shingle plains of the Dungeness Peninsular, or the Norman history of 1066 country.

Camber

First and foremost, whatever the weather there is the spacious sandy beach to enjoy! This is perfect for swimming, paddling, playing games on the sand flats, windsurfing, kitesurfing, buggying, walking, or simply enjoying a picnic.

If watching the windsurfers inspires you, then tuition is to hand a mile away at the Rye Watersports lake. This friendly, family-run centre runs kitesurfing, windsurfing, and dinghy sailing courses for all abilities on its safe inland lake that benefits from the summer sea breezes.

The 100 and 711 buses connect Camber to Rye railway station, New Romney, Folkestone, and Dover. Rye town is gorgeous, so spend a day enjoying its charming shops, cafes, and art galleries. Or take the train to Exciting Eastbourne, Historic Hastings, or Buzzing Brighton for a change of pace. Shoppers will head to the Designer Outlet Village right next to Ashford International station. Don't forget your passport; Eurostar can whisk you to Paris for a daytrip in under 2 hours from Ashford. If you prefer to take the car then Dover is a 45 minute drive away where frequent ferries and fast ferries connect the port to Dunkerque, Calais, and Boulogne.

Closer to home, the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch Railway is a must for children and adults of all ages. Why not take the train to Dungeness, admire Derek Jarman's cottage, and climb the stairs of the lighthouse for the breathtaking panoramic views?

Walkers are spoilt for choice, whether the pace is for a stroll along the beach, a level walk over the Romney Marsh, or a more challenging hilly walk in the gorgeous Weald just to the North of Rye.

Cyclists also enjoy the choice of flat or varied terrain. Off-road routes connect Camber with Rye and Lydd, but if Singletrack is your mountain-biking pleasure then drive the 40 minutes to Bedgebury where a fantastic new 25km purpose-built trail awaits.

Golfers will delight that the famous Rye Golf Course is about 20 minutes walk away via an off-road pavement.

“Home from home at Dunescape”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2016

Excellent accomodation, very comfortable and cosy. Very tastefully decorated. Thoughtful welcome pack, everything that you need to make life easy when you are away from home.

Really glad you enjoyed your time at Dunescape Judy, and hope to welcome you back some day.

“Fabulous stay in beautiful Dunescape”

Reviewed 27 Jun 2016

Dunescape is a lovely house - plenty of bright and tastefully decorated space, furnished to a high standard with quality furniture and all mod cons (for example comfortable beds, large furnished decking accessed from living room and a very welcome dishwasher) and so close to the fantastic sandy beach as well as a couple of nice restaurants and pubs. The master bedroom is particularly nice, with it's large en-suite shower room and cosy balcony for quiet relaxation with a cuppa. Stayed here with girlfriends to celebrate a special Birthday but I would not hesitate to come back to holiday with family and/or friends in couples - or to recommend Dunescape warmly to anyone looking for a top quality holiday rental by the beautiful Camber Sands. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

Delighted that Dunescape proved to be the perfect place to celebrate your special birthday, Helle, and it is really kind of you to take the trouble to review us. We hope to welcome you back soon.

“Perfect holiday retreat”

Top of the range accommodation. Location is a few steps from the beach, so would be excellent for children but only ten minutes from Rye and Rye Harbour country park. National Trust properties within easy reach. Outstanding service from the owners.

“One of the best holiday lets we've stayed in”

Reviewed 21 Jan 2013

In mid-December, we spontaneously decided to go away for new year and Dunescape was one of the few places available. It looked lovely and very well priced so we snapped it up. We were so glad we did - it's beautifully furnished in a prime spot next to the beach, with impeccable eco credentials. The attention to detail made a huge difference - from the Christmas tree to the personalised message on the blackboard and the wonderful welcome pack, as well as enough books and games to keep us occupied for days. There was even a laundry basket, which made a welcome change from putting holiday laundry in a carrier bag! The owner was friendly, helpful and responsive when booking, and returned my deposit promptly. In short, I can't think of anything critical to say about Dunescape.

“Lovely cosy house just steps from a beautiful beach”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2012

We had a brilliant holiday, walking by the sea, the river and the military canal as well as ambling through Rye. Dunescape was a perfect base: a clean, bright, roomy and well-equipped house with a great seaside feel. We were greeted with an extravagant welcome pack, which got our stay off to an excellent start. We'll certainly be back.

“Home from home by thew beach”

Reviewed 25 Sep 2012

I can't recommend Dunescape highly enough! It was like staying in a good friends property, everything from the welcome pack of essential goodies to save you having to head to the nearest shop before you have a cuppa, to the homely feel. The owners have equipped the property very well and it was very clean and I as I said it very much felt you were staying in a friends house. It you've come for the beach you're in the right place as it's literally yards away and the owners have provided deck chairs and a windbreak for you to use. I would definitely recommend staying here to all age groups.

“Great inside and out.”

Reviewed 8 Jun 2012

We loved staying here, Dunescape was a real find, It is clear that the owners have a real desire to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Providing you with a useful welcome pack, the property is impeccably clean, modern and comfortable. The local area is so picturesque, stunning views from atop the sand dunes are literally a one minute walk away - we found ourselves rediscovering our youth playing games in these dunes with our children. Nice restaurants and bars are all within a short car journey, not to mention a wealth of natural attractions within easy reach and an excellent coastal cycle path was a great experience too. We will definitely return in the future, hopefully many times.
