Calpe Festivals (Fiestas):
The Spanish are famous for their festivals (fiestas), & the town of Calpe has its fair share. There are many fiestas throughout the year, some larger than others. Most are a colourful & vibrant affair, lasting well into the evening & night; some last quite a few days.
Many of the festivals in Calpe correspond to particular periods in the town's history. Here we list some of the more popular (& typically the larger) fiestas to look out for:-
Calpe's festivities kick off with the arrival of the Carnival in February. Marching bands from all over Spain & Europe join together in the town.
Around March 19th is home to the feast of St. Joseph. Festivities start with a procession winding its way through the streets of the old town, followed by a giant paella in the town square. At midnight effigies of wood & cardboard are burnt to celebrate the beginning of spring, toasted with customary sardines & sangria.
June 24th is host to a midsummer's festival, quickly followed around August 5th by the celebration of Calpe's patron saint La Virgen de las Nieves. There are processions, fireworks, & outdoor parties with lots of food & drink.
Around 21st-24th October the people of Calpe celebrate their patron saint Santisimo Cristo del Sudor, & the Moros y Christianos (Muslims & Christians) fiesta at the same time. The Muslims & Christians fiesta commemorates the expulsion of the Moors from Calpe. It is said that Santisimo Cristo del Sudor helped protect the village as the Moors tried to enter. Therefore 2 battles are re-enacted along the beaches & in a mock castle. In addition many locals celebrate the festivity by way of donning often elaborate costumes & parading through the town streets. As usual there is plenty of food & drink to be had, & fireworks crown the event.

“Perfect family venue.”
Daughter, Son-in-law, 8yr old Granddaughter a Nannie and Gangan spent a perfect week in this "home from home" villa. the kitchen is by far the best stocked I have ever stayed in, every utensil you could possibly need is provided. Good quality crockery and glass wear. Lovely comfortable living areas and dining table. The pool area is wonderful, complete with its own "summer house" including a shower, a welcome shade from the very hot sun. A secret garden containing fruit trees, really what more could you ask. A perfect charcoal BBQ area with its own sink. Washing machine! oh yes is got that too. We were so sad to leave and hope very much to return.
Loved our stay at the villa , it was in a quiet area but with easy access to calpe and the surrounding places . The villa has a lovely pool which is great to chill around after a days sightseeing . It is so well equiped with everything you could need for a great holiday . Would definately reccomend .
Thank you so much for taking the time to write your review . Guests do comment that our villa is very homely & well equipped. It's so nice when we receive feedback as it's important to us that we maintain a high standard in both accommodation and service and you leave our villa having enjoyed your stay & maybe one day return.
“Brilliant place, brilliant holiday”
We stayed in Casa Chloe for one week. Our party was made up of 2 couples and 2 two-year-olds. We really liked the 2 apartment layout. Even though we spent most of our time together in the main part it allowed each family to have its own space. The villa is extremely well equipped, clean and spacious. We very much liked the location with its sea views and all amenities are just a short drive. The road is quiet and the villa and pool are not overlooked. The pool was a big plus point, very warm (in August) and perfectly maintained .We would very much like to return to Casa Chloe in the future and hopefully for 2 weeks as we spent so much time in this gorgeous villa that there is a lot of Calpe we would still like to visit! Only improvement we would suggest would be wireless internet. Highly recommend.
“Lovely villa in a peaceful location with excellent view of Calpe rock.”
Villa is very well equipped. Air conditioning in the bedrooms was lovely after the 45 degree heat outside. Pool is a good size and there are good quality sun beds around the pool area. Plenty of tables and chairs outside too. We used the barbecue quite a lot and all necessary utensils were provided. An excellent base to discover the area - with Valencia only one and a half hours away. Sue and Nick provided maps of the area, together with excellent advice on car hire. Deposit returned promptly.
“Home from Home - with sunshine!”
This villa is fantastic. There were 6 in our part including two children age 11 and 8. They spent most of the time in the pool which was clean and regularly maintained by the caretaker. We self catered mostly which was our choice. The BBQ was great. The kitchen appliances were just what we needed - easy to work even though the microwave was in spanish! There are supermarkets galore within 2 miles - we weren't going to hire a car but glad we did as the heat was too intense to walk. Local shops included Aldi and Lidly which has many of the products you would find at home. Calpe town itself is great - definitely worth a trip. Good eating places are Laura's at westbeech (at the borrom of the hill) and the Texas steak house. We will be going back - Thank you Nick and Sue and of course Paul the caretaker for his help and great area knowledge!
“Ideal to enjoy comfortable environment, dinners on terrasse, nice space and swimming pool”
We spent one week with our boys (12 and 14 years). Friends had rented a house not far. We adapted to the Spanish life style due to the heat. A lot of swimming pool during the day when it was too hot to go out. Some visiting of Moraira, Benidorm, Guadelest etc. during late afternoon/evening and diner around 22 - 23 o'clock with friends on the terrasse. We only made it once to the beach because we were fine at the "casa". The house is very nice and spacious and all necessary information is provided by the owners. From the beginning the owners were always available for questions and information was always quick and efficient. No hesitation to recommend this location!
“Lovely comfortable holiday villa, beautiful pool & garden!”
We spent one week in June at Casa Chloe and had a lovely holiday. The house & pool is very well equipped. The pool was lovely and so was the garden. The BBQ was great fun in the evening and whilst the villa isn't particularly close to bars or restaurants we didn't feel the need to venture far as relaxing in the garden by the pool & BBQ in the evening was perfect. Towards the end of the week it did get very hot and we could have done with air con in the bedroom to cool it down for an hour but fans were provided. All in all it was a lovely holiday and I would recommend the villa. We also visited the Barbacoa Restaurant nearby which excellent and within walking distance.
