Description

Honipine House is special. It is individually decorated, ideal for all year round holidays because it is warm, comfortable, spacious, and cared for as it is our own holiday home. We have often visited at Christmas and New Year in the past, and it is lovely for this time of year. An end cottage in a row on the wooded Honicombe Manor estate, PRIVATELY LET, cottage only, not swimming pools or Gym and it is NOT possible to pay to go into these leisure facilities. We recommend the Tavistock pool 8 miles away, with wave machine, as it is far superior. The Bar/restaurant at Honicombe is available with lots of events, music nights, in season. The cottage has 2 good size ground floor bedrooms, 1 double, one twin, with pine wardrobes, drawers, bedside tables with lamps, mirrors and lots of clothes hangers. The twin has a dressing table and seat. The double a chest of drawers and large mirror. There is double glazing downstairs as well as upstairs and a storage heaters.. A hairdryer and 2 extra electric heaters and clock/radio are downstairs. A bathroom with bath, electric shower over, basin, heater, shaver & light and separate toilet with basin, mirror, toothmugs, soap holders and towel holder. The large lounge/kitchen/diner has been refurbished in 2013 and has a double bed settee, matching 3 seater ( 2 reclining seats) sofa, 2 coffee tables, dining table and 6 chairs, t.v. cabinet and bookcase, with books and board games, fire surround with electric coal effect convector heater and fire glow. Storage heater perfect for this well insulated house. Double glazed full width patio doors to a patio decking, facing east, for breakfast on sunny days, with lovely country views to Dartmoor with furniture, and on the ground floor another patio west facing with furniture to bask in the late afternoon sun. There is ample electric heating, recliner seats, flat screen T.V and DVD player.Pine furniture. The kitchen has a full oven & hob, washing machine, microwave, toaster, electric kettle, fridge with ice compartment. Cupboard with Iron and board, clothes airer, Hoover, sunshade and stand, outside seat cushions. Ample crockery & cutlery and oven and hob utensils. There are tea towels, tablecloths, oven gloves, even aprons, as it is our holiday home. Emerson heater. The heating cost is included in the price.

The Tamar Valley is an area of outstanding natural beauty ( A.O.N.B ) and is Cornwall's best kept secret. Honicombe Manor is at St. Anns Chapel, near to Callington. Close by is Kit Hill on Hingston Down Moor. and the Donkey Park Sanctuary is 100 yds away, a National Trust property Cotehele House is 2 miles and the lovely towns of Tavistock ( Devon), Liskeard and Launceston are all within 10 miles. The whole area is full of interest to those seeking historic Cornwall. Its tin mining heritage, both for walkers and those looking to discover the secrets of Cornwall and Devon's past and natural beauty. Those interested in boating will find the estuaries leading down to the coast fascinating and the picturesque seaside towns of Looe, Polperro, Fowey and Plymouth a joy to visit. An Arts Theatre and Cinema are a short distance away and excellent pubs with good food close by.

Reviewed 23 Aug 2018

We are a family of 4 and stayed for 2 weeks in August. We really enjoyed our stay in a very clean and well equipped holiday home. Would definately recommend it and love to come again!

Owner's reply: Thank you so much for the compliments. We do try hard to get everything right. Best Wishes from Carolyn & Gill.
