Set in its own valley and just 10 minutes walk from the bustling town of Callac, Kernormand holiday cottage benefits from the tranquility of the countryside but still has the conveniences of the town. If you love animals and the countryside you'll love Kernormand. We have more than 30 rare breed miniature horses called Falabellas. We have the friendliest curly haired pig (not for eating!), chickens, cats and dogs too.
The feel of this ancient stone building has been retained, whilst creating a superbly modern interior with fully insulated and boarded walls and ceilings. The spacious rooms with velux windows are light, airy and instantly relaxing.

The gite is adjacent to our main farm house, but detached. It has a large galleried hall and is extremely light and airy.
Cot (sheets provided) and highchair available, DVD player and a video player with many children's (and some adult) films + Sat TV. and Wifi
|Further details outdoors|
A private above ground splash pool is provided from June onwards (15ft round x 3ft 6" deep) together with a 10 ft trampoline with a safety cage.
Barbecue equipment with a picnic table is also in situ for those relaxing evenings.
The gite is set in a large open garden, divided from the main house by living willow hurdles.
Chickens, cats and dogs do have access to this area but tend to keep their distance unless encouraged! The views from the gite and garden are wonderful as the house is set in a valley and many of our miniature Falabella horses are visible from the garden.
The pool is available for use from the beginning of June only and is above the ground so is very safe if you have todlers in your family.
Children love the Gite because they are right in the centre of the farm with all the animals around them. They especially love to make friends with Buffy the very large poodle, and her son Eddy. Rocky the terrier is a real mischief maker and is always there to cause trouble and provide hours of entertainment.
We also have two working collies, Molly and Katie. **Welcome Pack**
On arrival all summer guests receive a welcome pack with sundries for the first night and ingredients for morning breakfast This pack does include wine and fruit juice, tea, coffee, milk, bread, cereal and veg from our kitchen garden, as well as much more!
The Brittany region
Callac is a small market town in the centre of Brittany. It is walking distance from our house and gite - between 10 and 15 minutes..
The town itself has been here since the 12th century when it grew up at the base of a large castle. The castle was besieged several times and finally raised to the ground in the 17th century. Most of the stone from the castle was apparently gleaned by the locals and recycled into many properties around here!
The town has everything you could wish for, restaurants, bars, hairdressers, a butcher and bakers, a selection of useful shops, and two supermarkets. On top of this there is a bustling market every Wednesday throughout the year.
Callac also boasts a Bretton spaniel museum as this is where the breed originated, and a large statue of a famous Bretton horse -
Brittany itself is blessed with more walks than any other region I'm told and being in the middle, Callac is ideally placed for both walking and cycling holidays.
There are always interesting things happening close by. These range from country markets to horse fairs, racing, or organised walks, golf, swiming, walking, cycling and fishing.
Horse riding etc nearby. Kite flying, pony walking, feeding the animals for children are all available on-site and the town of Callac (which has 2 supermarkets and bars and restaurants is a 10 min walk from the gite

"Simply the Best!!"
The fourth time we have visited and still we have come home wanting to go back. Sharon and Bill make the best possible hosts, ensuring that nothing is too much trouble - even when you travel with two of the most energetic children possible! The children took part in everything from horse riding to walking horses and were even lucky enough to meet a new born foal. We visited lots of the local markets, beaches, the theme part near Brest and Mont St Michel. All were really enjoyable and made for a very special family holiday. All in all, an amazing holiday that we can't wait to do again soon.

"Peaceful location to escape the rigours of a busy lifestyle"
Beautiful Gite located in rural location ideal for exploring Brittany. Ideal for families who share a love of the countryside on a working farm, with lots of friendly animals to enjoy. Ideally situated for visting the Northern Brittany coast or exploring the scenic countryside in the Cenral region. The Gite was well equiped for a family holiday with a nice welcoming basket of goodies ready for us on arrival (a nice touch). The hosts were very accomodating and allowed our son to meet all the animals and have his first ride on a pony. Would recommend this Gite to other families.

"Wonderful gite at rural Brittany"
We visited end July, with our 2 boys (2 & 5). We really had a lovely stay. The gite was well-equipped & its spacious sunny garden / pool and trampoline were just ideal to keep the kids happy. We loved having all the farm animals & horses around, & enjoyed the nice long walks in the peaceful country side around the farm on evenings. The gite is very well located to discover the beautiful coasts of Brittany (Cote du Granit Rose, Plestin-les-Grèves, Lannion ..) at 45min drive & the mainland (30min). The hosts & the hearty welcome we received from them were very pleasing as well.

"Lots of space indoors and out, a must too for animal lovers"
We had great week here. The farm is great and my young girls loved the animals and the trampoline of course! Sharon and Bill are really helpful. The gite has all you need but recommend slippers for the cold floors! The sun would have topped our visit as pool only got used once and was big hit.

This has been one of the most relaxing family holidays we have enjoyed. The gite is brilliant and being part of the farm just topped it. Sharon and Bill make you feel right at home and help you find your holiday mood immediately. Our 3 year old is still talking about the farm, naming the animals and taking about Sharon and Bill. He had the best time. We liked it so much we are planning our hols next year to allow us to go back!!!

"A truly special family holiday!"
This year was out third visit to Kernormand, which I think in itself, says an awful lot about our holiday experience. Each time we visit, we enjoy ourselves more than the last and can't wait for our next visit. Kernormand is for us, a step away from reality - the peace and quiet, combined with the lovely gite and the great company are what make for a fantastic family holiday. Every morning our children trot off to feed the animals and as soon as they return, they count the hours until it is time to do the whole thing again in the evening. Our days are spent visting many of the beaches, lakes, markets and many of the other attractions that can all be easily reached within 45 minutes of the gite, while in the evening the local town offers a range of restaurants or there is a huge garden where we watch the world go by. If you are looking for a holiday which brings you back to life again then this really is the place to visit.
