Location description from owner

The Campania region

Campania is one of Italy's most beautiful regions. Both mountainous and green, the area's history of volcanic activity has played a large part in shaping the environment. The climate is warm, and one of the most familiar images is of oranges and lemons growing in green groves above the deep blue sea. Campania's coastline, particularly the Sorrento Peninsula, is dramatic and attractive. Out at sea lie even greater beauties, the islands of Capri, Ischia and Procida. Campania's cuisine relies upon local products: seafood, buffalo mozzarella, oranges and lemons. Among the food to sample are authentic Neapolitan pizza, ice cream, granita di limone (a refreshing crushed-ice lemon drink) and any (or all) of the region's gorgeous desserts. Limoncello is the alcoholic speciality, but Campania also has several good wines. For those more interested in history and culture than in beaches, Naples offers the priceless collections in its archaeological museum, and opera performances at the prestigious Teatro San Carlo, while Pompeii, Herculaneum and Paestum are three of the world's greatest archaeological sites. Campania tourist destinations Naples itself is a worthy, if chaotic, destination, despite often being missed off the tourist trail in favour of its lovely neighbours: the islands of Ischia and Capri; the Amalfi Coast; Sorrento and ancient Pompeii. The Amalfi Coast is one of the world's top tourist destinations: a beautiful stretch of mountainous coastline dotted with small towns. For a relaxing trip, there are ideal resort destinations like Capri and Positano. If you prefer a busy sight-seeing holiday, Naples makes a practical base, for at least a couple of days. To appreciate Campania, though, a two-centre trip is the perfect solution: a few nights in Naples or nearby, to 'do' the museums and archaeological sights, followed by several days unwinding on an island or the Amalfi Coast

Calitri

Calitri is a town (commune) in the province of Avellino, area Irpinia. Calitri can be easily accessed from every point in southern Italy - about an hour drive from the city of Naples. Calitri is situated to the confluence of three Provinces: Foggia, Potenza and Avellino. The area is steeped in history and tradition and sprinkled with castles and aristocratic palazzos that serve as a testament to the important role it's played in Southern Italy's history. Medieval historical centres and old castles are a must for the discerning visitor, who can also look to the visit for tranquillity, hospitality and a high quality of life.Irpinia is the area in which Calitri is located, and the adjacent Vulture are beautiful lands virtually unknown to mass tourism. They boast an ancient history and uncontaminated nature, and visitors plunge straight into the green countryside, discovering ancient villages perched among the hills and mountains and ruins of castles and cathedrals from time gone by. The river Ofanto flows along the valleys, breaking up into tiny tributaries, beautiful streams and brooks that breathe life into the fertile landscape. Enchanting little waterfalls are formed in many gorges, refreshing the visitor's eyes.Calitri offers infinite activities centered around its many local traditions . Thanks to the relaxing atmosphere that Calitri has to offer, long relaxing walks can be enjoyed along the countryside and enjoy the unique and beautiful scenery. Visitors can wander round the medieval village to soak in the atmosphere and enjoy the local artisan's shops and the exceptional regional cuisine among other activities. Courses in traditional ceramics (Calitri is world-known for its artistic ceramics) needle point and arts are available. Many sports including skiing, paragliding, horse riding, mountain biking, fishing and hunting can also be practiced. For those seeking more relaxing occupations, soaking in the nearby thermal baths or embarking on exciting culinary or wine itinearies are an attractive option.

“A perfect family holiday.”

Reviewed 23 Mar 2013

Bella Vista was fantastic and we really enjoyed our stay there. We had a family and friends reunion as it was my brothers 50th birthday and there was plenty of room for everyone. The huge terrace was a great area for celebrating with the added bonus of i pod docking station perfect for family gatherings and chilling in the evening. The views of the country side are stunning! Already booked again for this year :)

“Our Family Holiday.”

Reviewed 10 Mar 2013

I was looking for a villa away from city life as I have a very busy career. I found this villa fitted my family requirements perfectly. The rolling hills, mountain views, swimming pool , This Villa has all the facilities (However was disappointed By not having Internet however we managed to get through this with mobile Internet Which I purchased in nearby town). My children loved the grounds and daily trips into town for Ice cream. The town is a little gem full of very reasonably priced restaurants and entertainment - We enjoyed the classical orchestra , fireworks food festival which I understand are regular events . We went out on day trips exploring the Amalfi coastline My family and I had a wonderful time in Italy and we are looking forward to going back to the villa.
