The Turkish Aegean Coast region
The Turquoise Coast of Turkey and the uniquely beautiful area around Fethiye is an ideal place for a wonderful holiday. It has something for everyone - relaxing beach holiday, exploring an ancient culture, exciting water and other sports - and lively night life in nearby towns of Olu Deniz or Hisonaru. All amidst glorious scenery: lush green forests and crystal clear bays and beaches, surrounded by mountains.
There are so many exciting and interesting places to visit and things to do:
Visit ancient tombs and the ghost Greek village in the mountains
Ringo ride down the stunning Saklikent Gorge
Beautify yourself at the Dalyan Mud baths
Go on a Jeep Safari
Try Para gliding, Scuba diving, White water rafting, Horse riding
Don't forget to treat yourself to a Turkish Bath and massage - an experience you'll want to repeat!
A Must-Do is to go on one of the day-long 12 island boat cruises from Fethiye Harbour where you make numerous stops and swim off the side of the boat.
Or go on a day long cruise to the yachting town of Gotchek and window shop around its exclusive boutiques.
With most boat trips, you can be picked up from near the villa and dropped home at the end of the day.
The villa is ideally situated in the village of Koca Calis (meaning 'little Calis' - pronounced 'Kocha Challis") with a number of beach clubs within 6 - 10 minutes walk.
The nearest beach to Villa Loumar (6 minutes walk) is the Surf Cafe Beach Club which is also where the Dolmus (minibus) service has a terminus. Enjoy a cool sea breeze even in the heat of Summer. There are numerous beach clubs, adjacent to each other, all within walking distance from the villa. Each club has its own gardens, bar and cafe bordering sand and sea with safe bathing. Sun beds are free - just order a drink or food and it will be brought to you as you lounge under umbrellas in the shade.
Calis beach has a lovely palm lined promenade bordered with restaurants overlooking the beach. If you fancy more lights at night, and a great choice of restaurants and shops, you can reach it from a dolmus that does a 5 minute shuttle back and forth from the Surf Cafe Beach Club - or phone for a taxi (rank is 2 minutes from the villa). The beaches in the area are a mix of sand and shingle, so wear your flip flops/sandals to the waters edge or better, buy a pair of cheap rubber slip on shoes on sale locally. The sea is crystal clear and warm. There's a cheap water taxi from Calis Beach every 30 minutes in high season to take you to the harbour town of Fethiye. Calis has a weekly market on Sundays. As the sun goes down, enjoy the sunset glinting on the water and take a stroll along the promenade watching the glowing lights of Fethiye across the bay. Fethiye has harbour cruises and a large, unmissable market on Tuesdays. Dine outdoors in its old city at night under canopies of light-strung trees. Explore the shops all around and maybe get a great bargain in carpets or leather goods.
If you fancy a brighter night life there is clubbing, dancing and many bars at Oludeniz (a 25 minute Dolmus ride from the centre of Fethiye) and Hisonaru, a lively town on the way to Oludeniz from Fethiye.
And after a day out, just lie back on the sun beds and beanbags on the terrace of Villa Loumar, dip in and out of the pool, have a warm or cold outdoor shower, and dine al fresco - maybe a bbq around the pool. And just up the road, 2 minutes walk away, you could go to the Angel Bar/Restaurant where the food is inexpensive and delicious, especially their home-made Turkish pides (like a pizza) made in a special oven.
This is a holiday you won't forget. So many return year after year. You'll want to join them.
