The Canary Islands region
There's one main reason why the second largest of the Canary Islands attracts so many visitors - the beaches, all 152 of them. Whether you like your beach life slow and peaceful or quick and crazy, Fuerteventura caters for all. With an average year round temperature of 21 degrees, what more could you ask for! The island is less populated than its neighbours with most of the inhabitants living in the capital of Puerto del Rosario. Being only slightly smaller than Tenerife, the island has many unpopulated landscapes including the rippling sand dunes along the north east coast, making this an ideal visit if you are looking for peace and tranquillity.
Unlike Tenerife and Gran Canaria, tourism development is a lot slower on Fuerteventura. The main resorts include Corralejo in the north with a bustling town centre with plenty of shops and restaurants to choose from. Costa Caleta on the east coast, with its gently sloping sands, perfect for families with young children and in the south of the island is Morro Jable, once a small fishing village, it is now popular with German tourists and offers some of the best sandy beaches in the whole of the Canaries.
Caleta De Fuste
Costa Caleta (formerly known as Caleta de Fuste) thrives on tourism. There is a fantastic golden sandy beach popular with water sports enthusiasts and perfect for families. The tourist centre of El Castillo (the castle) stands next to the harbour and is well worth a visit.
The town of Caleta is often referred to as a holiday village. The man made beach has been carefully constructed to avoid currents and is in the shape of a horse shoe. This ensures it is perfectly safe for children of all ages. Those wanting to be a little more adventurous can go diving, hire jet skis or learn to windsurf at the water centre on the beach. Costa Caleta harbour is home to many yachts, catamarans and boats which provide local trips as well as providing a beautiful backdrop in the evenings.
There is a multitude of good restaurants in Costa Caleta that can cater for all tastes at very reasonable prices. Steaks and Fish are particularly good, however there are also Chinese, Indian, Greek and English restaurants all within a close area. There are also a number of good supermarkets within the area.
Costa Caleta is situated on the east coast of the island, just 10-15 mins. drive from the airport and approximately 20 minutes south of Puerto del Rosario. There is a local bus service, which runs every 30 minutes and provides air conditioned coaches for the trip. At 1 Euro (65p) it is an extremely cheap and easy way to get around. Budget car rental in Costa Caleta is available for those wishing to explore the island at their leisure. A taxi from the airport will cost just €8.00.
The Centrol Commercial Atlantico Shopping Centre has a variety of shops all under one roof selling jewellery, gifts, clothes and electrical goods. Behind the shopping centre are 4 wonderful lagoon style bays with safe bathing for children. There is also a local market in the centre of Caleta every Saturday.

"Lovely house with Great terrace"
We have stayed several times in Casa Caleta with family and have never been dissapointed. It is a lovely house in great location with a large terrace. It is a few minutes walk to the front and to bars and restaurants. Also the booking process is very straightforward.
Dear John. I'm so pleased you enjoyed yet another holiday at Casa Caleta. You are wonderful guests and always look after our house as if it were your own! We look forward to welcoming you back in May. Best wishes Dawn

"Fantastic Family Home"
Excellent house with large garden. Home from home with lots of little touches which make your stay enjoyable. Very spacious and can easily accomodate 7 people. It was clean and well maintained. The house would benefit from air conditioning, this would make it perfect! however there are ceiling fans and mosquito nets at the bedroom doors so air can circulate well. Enjoyed eating in aswell as eating out due to the outdoor space being so good. Restaurants in this resort are amazing however, tips are Fado Rock, Nestors, 15, 555 and Aromas Indian. The pool has safe non slip tiles. We will definately visit this house again.

"Great property, great location"
We really enjoyed our holiday in Caleta de Fuste and I can say that this was in no small part due to choosing to stay at Casa Caleta. We had a great welcome from Wendy who looks after the property and she was available whenever we needed her. The property was clean and well equipped, the gardens are well cared for and the pool is a good size. The Wifi was much better than we've usually had when abroad in holiday homes. The private terrace provided plenty of room for outdoor dining and relaxing and is a bit of a sun trap, being nicely sheltered from the ever present breeze. The location is literally a couple of minutes flat walk to the lovely sea front promenade and the town centre - with some lovely restaurants and shops. Hiring a car is a good idea, as there are some fantastic places to visit and explore on the island. I can recommend hiring electric scooters for a couple of hours - great fun and allows you to explore the promenade and paths that lead along the shoreline. A couple of other highlights for us were Oasis Park Zoo (hand feeding the giraffes and elephants was a brilliant experience), jetskiing from the marina in town, El Cotillo (the little village and the beaches between there and the lighthouse are some of the most beautiful places I've ever been to) and a trip to Bentancuria (some great views on the way and a lovely little village to explore). This was our first visit to Fuerteventura, but we'll definitely be back and we’d be very happy to make Casa Caleta our base again.
Dear Guest Thank you very much for such a wonderful review! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Casa Caleta and it's good to know that you spent time exploring the area and all that Fuerteventura has to offer. It is a fabulous island with something for all ages and yes El Cotillo really is a hidden gem and our favourite place to visit. We hope to welcome you back as guests in the not too distant future. Thank you!

"Good place to chill and enjoy some sunshine"
Often check out TripAdvisor reviews to get opinions of places and decided to chance this holiday on my search. Very pleased with Casa Caleta - everything we wanted. Easy transfer from the airport, met by the Manager with local knowledge, wifi, and a comfortable apartment. The apartment has the best outside space of all the units in the complex with all day sun and small balconies outside two of the bedrooms. We did walks along the coast and up the local hill, the shops and restaurants are mostly within 10 mins walk. The beach is good for small children - shallow water, imported Saharan sand. We were happy chilling (and teenagers revising for upcoming exams) so this was a great no-stress holiday with sunshine.

"Lovely house with beautiful terrace"
We have just returned from a lovely holiday in Casa Caleta, The house is furnished to a very high standard, with some nice touches (outdoor crockery) The terrace is is very relaxing with comfortable loungers. The property is within easy walking distance of shops, bars, and restaurants. The booking process is very efficient , and the property manager (Wendy) is very helpful.

"great accomodation for family of varying age range"
Casa Caleta provided every requirement for my family group of 7 which included adults, teenagers and a toddler. The enclosed patio is spacious, giving privacy and safety albeit the communal pool area is available if you want to be a little more social, whilst the WiFi kept our two teenagers content ! accomodation is clean and spacious - not flash but everything catered for. The town was relatively quiet and had a very relaxed feel to it - everyone very friendly and nobody hassling. Airport transfers are a doddle - taxis very reasonable albeit the local bus service is also very good. plenty of shops and restaurants within a stones throw and the beach is a matter of 5 minutes walk. We actually made more use of the beach areas near to the Atlantico centre which is approx 15 minutes walk along the coast path - they are a little smaller with lagoon type bays. All beaches very clean. All in all - a great place to spaend a relaxing holiday - we will be returning for sure.

"Lovely house...delightful location!!"
Casa Caleta is a beautiful house with everything you could possibly need and we had a fantastic stay there. An additional feature, the WIFI, was loved by the children especially and kept them entertained when they weren't enjoying the pool outside as did the english TV channels, which meant I got my 'Emmerdale fix' too!! We have stayed on the complex before, in a different house and an additional bonus of Casa Caleta is that it occupies a corner plot and has a huge outdoor area, with sun loungers, dining facilities and a BBQ, which was a lovely addition. The house manager, Wendy was extremely welcoming and helpful and the house is managed very well indeed. She was also close by, should we have needed to contact her and she also popped in a couple of times to check all was okay. Amuley Mar, is a delightful complex, perfect for families, a quiet location, yet close to all amenities. The beach at Caleta de Fuste, has sadly deteriorated since our last visit and I understand it is to be re-sanded, which is needed. We therefore, opted for the nicer beach further down, at the Atlantico complex. A further option, is a 40 minutes drive away, on the coast towards Corralejo , Playa de Vigilado, this was our beach of choice and it was simply gorgeous, with pure white sand, sloping sand dunes and great waves!! We would definitely reccomend the house and indeed the complex to others and we will be returning for our fourth visit in 2014!!

"Casa Caleta is a wonderfull holiday home"
My Wife and I have stayed at Casa Caleta several times over the past 7 years and we have never been disappointed. The property is kept well maintained and spotless and the description in the advert fits to a tee. The facilities such as TV, washing machine, fridges, toaster, microwave etc are all modern and well maintained. I think the crowning glory of the property is the large patio with sun beds, table and chairs, a great barbeque and a garden well stocked with native shrubs and plants. The location of the property is ideal being only a few minutes stroll from the town center and a stones throw from the cliff top walk along to Nueve Horizonte which I would highly recommend. We always take some small cubes of cucumber to feed the chipmonks. The property managers Wendy and Ken are very friendly and always on hand to offer any advice as to good restaurants etc. The choice of restaurants in the area is very good and for value for money I would recommend the Aberdeen Steak House. The Fado Rock is very good and very busy most nights and if you like Italian the Casa Nosta is good. For a lunch time drink and snack the Captains Table is the place to go with happy hour from 1pm to 2pm with two drinks for the price of one and a good selection of excellent tapas at reasonable prices. All in all Casa Caleta is an ideal holiday home where one quickly feels at home to relax. I would recommend the property to anyone and it will not be too long before we will be back again all being well
Many thanks for your wonderful review of Casa Caleta. We are really pleased that you enjoy Casa Caleta and the Island of Fuerteventura as much as we do and you obviously make the most of your stay by touring the beautiful Island. We have enjoyed having you and your wife as our guests over the past 7 years and hope you continue to visit for many years to come. Thank you!

"Excellent property with excellent locale"
My family and I have just returned from a 3.5 week stay at number 25 Amuley Mar. We have visited the complex on a number of occasions staying in different accomodation but this property, mainly due to the patio, was excellent. The house was well furnished and had all essential things required for your stay. All in all a lovely holiday :)
