The Canary Islands region

. Fuerteventura is the second largest of the Canary islands and the one closest to Africa (just 95km away). Like its close neighbour Lanzarote, Fuerteventura is a volcanic island and, of the Canary islands, the one with the oldest history. Its landscape is largely rocky but with mile upon mile of untouched golden, fine-sand beaches and dunes, some of the finest in Europe. Fuerteventura enjoys the year round heat of Africa made all the more pleasant by the Atlantic breezes that fan its shores. Quieter than the other islands, Fuerteventura is also less built-up and commercial and visitors are attracted by the tranquil atmosphere and the abundance of wonderful, expansive and unspoilt beaches. The main resorts offer a selection of bars, cafés, shops and some of the best fish restaurants in the Canaries, while the more adventurous holidaymaker will be attracted by the small, traditional restaurants throughout the island that offer delicious, fresh Canarian cuisine. If you get the opportunity, try the local ;rancho canario, a substantial stew of chickpeas, potatoes, noodles, beef and chicken. For anyone with an interest in watersports, especially wind-surfing and scuba-diving, the island has perfect weather, water and wind conditions offer unlimited options. But if you prefer to observe rather than participate, the world speed-surfing championships are held here every August. Those wishing to explore a little further afield will find that there are plenty of possibilities. Lanzarote can be reached by ferry from Corralejo in approx. 40 minutes and is a very pleasant journey. The volcanic island of Lobos (total area 6km)is also accessible from Corralejo and offers a lovely day trip, in particular for walkers and nature lovers.

Caleta de Fuste

The villa is located 10 minutes walk to the large Atlantico Centre with its wide variety of shop, bars and restaurants which include Eurospar, Bocatto, Mcdonalds, a bilingual cinema, amusements and a bowling alley. This shopping centre leads directly to the beach front and onto the promenade, where another 5 minute walk will take you into the resort centre of Caleta de Fuste. Caleta De Fuste is a lovely town with an abundance of shops, hotels, restaurants and bars. For the energetic there is a lovely promeande that takes you from Caleta down along the coastline through the marina and onto neuvo horizonte (the neighbouring town). Along the way you will meet the native chipmunks who live among the rocks and love to be fed.

“A perfect family week away in the sun!”

Reviewed 22 Apr 2014

This was our 9th time on the island and I can honestly say villa Amarillo, in particular the outside area and pool is the nicest we have encountered. We had a wonderful week, the weather was gorgeous and we were able to spend much needed quality family time together. Perfect!

Thank you for your kind comments, I am delighted you all enjoyed your stay at villa amarillo and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Best Regards Lisa

“Sun, Sea and Relaxation”

Reviewed 4 Apr 2013

Myself, my wife, two children - daughter (12), son (7), father and mother in law all travelled together to Villa Amarillo during February 2013. After a short taxi ride from the airport (10mins) we were met at the villa by a lovely lady "Claire" who handed us our keys and her number should we need any help with anything during our stay. The Villa is situated on a fantastic golf course complex close enough to walk to but not to close to be receiving stray golf balls at the pool side. After the early morning flight from Dublin it was great to arrive to a spotless villa with all the mod cons, especially the private pool which proved a hit with the children and adults alike. The first thing we all did was to just lie on the very comfortable sun loungers and soak up the sun rays after a very long Irish winter. The Villa was more than adequate for our needs and space was not a problem for any of us who just wanted to chill and relax. The children swam and played in the pool all day every day taking a break for lunch and dinner. Whether you want to eat in or stroll down to the town centre (build up an appetite) all tastes are catered for at reasonable prices, and with everyone full to the brim a very cheap taxi fare back to the villa is very welcoming. The Villa itself is very private and relaxing whereby you immediately feel at home. The in-laws were also very impressed with the Villa, the beach and the town centre with plenty of shops for browsing (mother in law) and nice quite pubs for watching football matches and horse racing (father in law). When we asked the children what they thought was the best thing about Villa Amarillo - they both said THE POOL, because they could play in it all day and have it all to themselves. Happy children happy holiday. Would defiantly visit again.

Thanks guys Im glad you all enjoyed your stay at villa amarillo and look forward to welcoming you back in the future. Lisa

“Very nice holidays!”

Reviewed 17 Mar 2013

My husband and I had much nicer holidays than we have expected! 3 kids with us, age: 13, 9 and 6. Everybody loved it and enjoyed it. House is very spacious and has everything to have very enjoyable holidays. Beautiful beaches are on the south – little drive away (40min). Shops are 10 min away. Overall very nice Holliday, I would recommend and would like to return.

Many thanks for your recent email and lovely comments. Im delighted you all enjoyed your stay at villa amarillo. Lisa

“Excellent villa, perfect for growing family”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2013

Lisa My family and I have just returned from a fantastic 11 night stay over Christmas at your villa and would like to pass on our thanks to you for renting it to us, we had a brilliant time, the villa was everything and more than stated on website and in your brochure, we have stayed at other villas on campo de golf and yours was the best we have stayed at, from the standard of the villa to its fixtures and fittings, the EXCELLENT eating and sitting area on the patio and the much used outside bar area, and my 2 young children adored the pool ,aged 1 1/2 & 2 1/2 and what you see in the pictures actually made our holiday as it is the PERFECT pool for the kids, THEIR POOL as my eldest would call it ,and also heated to the perfect temperature, there where 4 adults and 2 toddlers that stayed at the villa, and there was always a space for us all, no matter where we where in the property, even when the children woke early in the morning the grand parents where able to sleep without being disturbed, in the double bedroom situated at the far end from the sitting room, and in the day if adults wanted a bit of peace away from kids there was always the wonderful sun terrace to sneak away to, your property management team in Clare and paul where great and popped around on a couple of occasions just to make sure we had everything we needed and where all fine, and your gardener was around regular to tend to the plants and trees, that my daughter also enjoyed watering daily,!!! We haven't stopped telling all our friends how fantastic a propert it is and we hopefully look forward to visiting again in the not too distant future, as so do some of my family and friends, a highly recommended place to stay with friends or family, As hopefully it will be our holiday location for years to come Thanks once again THE BANNISTER FAMILY ( Liverpool )

Thank you for your glowing reccomendation. Its great to know that our guests continue to enjoy villa amarillo, its location and facilities. Best Regards Lisa

“Excellent Villa - more like a home than a rental”

Reviewed 2 Apr 2012

Booked very easily through Owners Direct last year and received responses to queries from the owner, Lisa, very quickly. Very easy to get to from the airport with a hire car in 10 to15 mins, Lisa's directions are 'idot proof'. Parking is directly outside , on a very quiet road (except on a friday pm) but more of that later. The villa has all the kitchen facilities that you could wish for with all mod cons The Villa is very spacious with plently of storage for clothes and an excellent 'master' bedroom with an on- suite. Walk in shower in the main bathroom for those who don't like showers over a bath. The large communal living/dining room is ideal for those times when you don't want to be outside, with 5 UK and 1 Irish channel on the TV, if required. The 'outside' is fantastic with 8 sunbeds, a good size pool with separate kiddies pool and lovely gardens and plants. If this isn't enough space for you then there is a huge roof terrace with more sun loungers. 5 mins by car to local Eurospar supermarket which has cool underground free car parking and sells everything that you might need for a self catering holiday. You can access the great beach by driving down the side of the shopping complex/ Elba Carlotta hotel. The location is very peaceful and quiet except for the 15 mins on a Friday afternnon when the 'waterman' delivers 10 litre bootles of water. He gets everyones attention by beeping his horn as he approaches. (2 euros 20 cents for 10 litres) - more expensive than the Eurospar 90 cents for 5 litres but you don't have to cart it back to a car or taxi!!! My wife, daughter, son-in-law, 2 year old Granddaughter AND I had a great week even allowing for the coolest March for many a year (the Villa provides great shelter from the wind that blew down the sides of the Villa. In a hot period you would be very appreciative of this breeze!!! Lisa sorted out all of our many and various requests and her agent on sit for our week, Claire, was also excellent. Breakages deposit, which I hadn't even started thinking about was returned in double quicktime as well. 2 restaurant tips: The one on a pier out from the beach in front of the Elba Carlotta hotel and if you go into Caleta then visit the Puerto Castilla El Faro Italian/Spanish fusion restaurant down on the harbour - brilliant and free kids food!!

Thank you for your lovely review I delighted you enjoyed your stay at villa amarillo. Lisa

“Home from Home”

Reviewed 8 Mar 2012

We had to find a Villa at very short notice due to a mojor problem with the original Villa we were staying in. The owner and the team were exceptional. We were able to move in with 2 hours notice. When we moved we wish we booked Villa Amarillo first. The Villa is very well equiped. We had all we needed for 2 families with 4 children , including a very good travel cot (not like the tiny one in the first Villa). The pool is large enough for several people at a time with a small shallow seperate section where the kids had hours of fun. Overall all if you require a large property with a pool, Villa Amarillo is the one for you. I have been travelling to the Island for 5 years now and would say this is the best I ve stayed in.

Thank you. Im delighted you all settled in so quickly and enjoyed your holiday at villa amarillo. Lisa
