The interior of the cottage is bright and attractive with the personal touches that only an owner's second home can give. It has gas central heating with additional electric heaters, the boiler provides constant hot water and there is no smell of damp.
New this season - Downstairs cloakroom with W.C. and wash basin.

We do not own the ground at the front of the cottage - our small patio garden with seating area and garden furniture is at the back - but we have the right to park one car in front of the cottage. There is free car parking nearby for other vehicles and safe storage for bikes in the lock-up garage.

The England region

The Lake District National Park is famous for its stunning scenery, abundant wildlife and rich cultural heritage. The area has the largest and deepest lakes and highest peaks in England which makes it an ideal holiday venue.

There is so much to do and see, in sunny or rainy weather. Visit Keswick and look at the shops, where there are some lovely local gifts to buy as well as the famous Keswick fudge to taste! Take some walks around the famous lake WIndermere or even try your hand at windsurfing or kitesurfing that takes part on the lake.

Caldbeck

Caldbeck has everything - The Oddfellows Arms a typical Lakeland pub with good food is just across the road and the well stocked village stores and Post Office very close.

There are several cafes, a gift shop, a hairdresser and even a clog maker. It is within easy reach of Bassenthwaite Lake, the peaks of Blencathra and Skiddaw and equidistant from Cockermouth, Keswick, Penrith and Carlisle whilst the Solway Coast and Hadrian's Wall are just a bit further.

“Comfortable, well equipped cottage in beautiful location”

Though we've been to the Lakes many times; never to Caldbeck. First view of the cottage was over a stream with a footbridge and daffodils on the banks. The row of cottages has a very lived in feel and the neighbours were friendly. With a pub across the road selling good food and real ales, the cottage is in the centre of the village. This doesn't have the feel of a holiday let, but of a well lived in home. The beds are good, kitchen well equipped (including washer and dish washer), comfortable lounge and small garden that has the sun in the afternoon. It's well heated, should that be needed - during our stay we had brilliant sunshine as well as one day of snow! We really liked that fuel is included in the rent, so there is no scrabbling around for coins to put in meters. It's also suprisingly spacious and easily accomodated us - 5 adults. There's a village store and also really interesting gallery and craft shops all within 5 minutes walk - and an interesting church. Our reason for being there was to enjoy the fells and lakes - which we did - the accomodation was perfect for this and a place to look forward to returning to after a day out walking.

It is always good to hear that our guests enjoy staying at Gill Beck as much as we do. Many thanks for taking the trouble to write a review.

Experience the Lakes District in the peaceful and delightfully pretty village of Caldbeck. The scenery is breathtaking, and the accommodation extremely comfortable and homely. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you very much for the wonderful review. As it is our "holiday home" we have tried to make it as cosy and welcoming as possible and I'm just so glad you enjoyed staying at Gill Beck as much as we always do.
