The area is one of the more remote and lesser known parts of the Lake District, but boasts some outstanding scenery and some of the best, less frequented walking in the whole of the Lake District.

Superb walking and cycling exists within easy reach of all the villages in the Northern Fells, catering for all levels. You can travel for miles and not see a soul - enjoy the peace & quiet and listen to the birds singing. This really is a great place to spend some time.
The Cumbria way, C2C (Coast to Coast) and the Reivers Route also pass through the village.

“Simply The Best”

Reviewed 15 Nov 2016

Wanted to claim squatters rights in this delightful, cosy cottage. Very high standards of cleanliness and décor. Well equipped kitchen with modern appliances. Bathroom with shower excellent. Bed really comfortable. Lounge, a pleasure to sit in and dining room ideal. Good value for money. Warm welcome from Nicky on arrival and available when needed.

Lovely review, many thanks. Wishing you well. Nicky

“Beautiful New Year”

Reviewed 6 Jan 2016

We loved our New Years Visit at Beckside Cottage, the cottage was all that we hoped for. The House was beautifully decorated, and really had that 'snug' feel. Location was great, 200m to the local pub, a 25 minute drive to Keswick. Nicky was beyond helpful & we cannot thank her enough. Would love to stay again!

Many thanks for taking the trouble to post a review, I am delighted that we met your expectations for your New Year celebrations. Wishing you a happy health 2016. Nicky Ginger Cottages

“cosy and pretty”

Reviewed 7 Jun 2015

Had a lovely stay overall - the cottage was very comfortable and very tidy! Really liked it! There are some gorgeous local hikes that are well worth exploring, too. The only down-side would be the location: it's a little inconvenient for access to the National Park compared to staying somewhere like Ambleside or Grasmere....but at least here you can get away from the tourist trail a bit, One has to drive quite a way to get to the nearest supermarket.

Many thanks for taking the time to post a review, your opinion is very valuable. I am delighted you found Beckside Cottage very comfortable and tidy. Caldbeck is on the northern fringe of the Lake District National Park, which has it own charm of being in the Lake District National Park but within 20 minutes of Keswick.

Nicky (the owner)met us upon arrival which was lovely, and went through everything with usto make sure we settled in alright. The cottage is gorgeous, really well presented and furnished and lovely and warm! We couldn't have asked for more! Absolutely fantastic! We'll definately come back!!!

“Fantastic cottage and location”

Reviewed 23 Oct 2014

I would definitely recommend Beckside Cottage. The cottage was absolutely perfect, very cosy and clean. Fantastic kitchen has all necessary equipment. The location of the cottage is brilliant, fantastic walks right on the doorstep, we only left Caldbeck once during our stay. The walks around Cladbeck are outstanding. The local pub Oddfellows was very welcoming the locals were all friendly. I would recommend the food and local beers at the pub. There is also a well equipped village shop, both which are a 2 minute walk from the cottage. Nicky was great and showed us around the cottage, which was a lovely personal touch, she even had a biscuit for our dog Inka. Definitely worth 5+ stars!

Many thanks for taking time to post a review, many potential guests read reviews and have booked as a result of what they have read. Wishing you well, Nicky, Ginger Cottages.

“Perfect”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2014

A perfect cottage, decorated and furnished to a high standard. The owner met us on our arrival and made sure that we knew where everything was and how everything worked. The owner brought us a complimentary bottle of milk and some logs for the woodburner both of which were much appreciated. Highly recommended and I intend on returning.

Very many thanks for taking the time to review our cottage, it makes all the hard work very worthwhile Ginger Cottages

“Beautiful stay!”

Reviewed 15 Aug 2014

Myself and my husband stayed here for two nights. When we were arrived we were met by the very friendly Nicky how took time to explain all we needed to know and give us a quick tour around the cottage. The cottage was beautiful, modern facilities were fitted around the cottage such as the kitchen but the charm of the cottage still remained throughout with the beams, windows and of course the lovely wood burner. It felt like a home from home and we did not want to leave, the surrounding village was breathtaking - postcard worthy. Everything we needed was in the cottage - a lovely extra was the tea, coffee, biscuits and salt and pepper that Nicky provided, not to forget the beautiful fresh flowers around the cottage. Overall we loved our stay and are dying to return! Thanks Nicky!

Many thanks, you have wrote a lovely encouraging review, will be lovely to see you back again best wishes Ginger Cottages

“Almost perfect....”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2014

What can I say....this place is virtually my shangri la; ( sorry Penderff). Everything was nearly perfect. The villagers..fantastic. The village....perfect......almost......cafe for early morning breakfast? The cottage....almost perfect. Clean, tidy and very comfortable. The only faults I can come up with are;fantastic kitchen but somewhat dark; LED lights please,( i like cooking) and lower the water temperature. I really had to wrack my brains to come up with anything to fault this place.

Many thanks for your considered review. We are delighted you enjoyed your stay. Thanks for pointing out that the water is very hot, I think I need to put it on a summer setting. Best wishes Ginger Cottages

“Lovely cottage and great value”

Reviewed 30 Jun 2014

We stayed in Beckside Cottage for 4 nights and had a great time. The cottage is beautifully decorated and well equipped, and was great value for the money. Nicky was very friendly and helpful. Caldwell village itself is charming and very quiet. Overall a very enjoyable few days!

Hello Many thanks for taking the time to review my cottage, I am glad you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Ginger Cottages

“Cosy cottage in quiet location”

Reviewed 14 Apr 2014

We were welcomed by the very friendly Nicky, who took time to explain everything to us. The cottage was just as we had hoped - comfortable, very cosy with the wood burning stove roaring in the living room. The village of Caldbeck offers everything for a short stay - frindly pub, PO, local store, cafe and craft shops, all of which are fairtrade. There are pleasant walks from the doorstep and the big climbs of the northern lakes only a short ride away. Highly recommended.

Very many thanks for taking the time to give a review which gives a lovely summary of Beckside and Caldbeck. Best Wishes
