Antiga Adega is a restored three bedroom detached house in the centre of a typical Portuguese village.The village has all the basic amenities within walking distance - bars, mini market, - and even a bread van and fresh fish van which comes daily to sell their wares.

The house is on 2 floors with bedrooms both upstairs and downstairs, along with a bathroom on each floor. All the traditional features have been kept in the main house, these include exposed stone walls and wooden beamed ceilings, giving a cosy homely feel to the property. The "winery" part of the property has been fully restored to become an integrated part of the house, and benefits from a double sofa bed, and is used as a games room (with a pool table, football table and air jet hockey table) but can double up as an additional bedroom if required.

The property now benefits from WiFi accessibility.

The large (500m2) rear garden is totally private and secluded making it an ideal place to relax and soak

The large (500m2) rear garden is totally private and secluded making it an ideal place to relax and soak up the sun, read a book, or just enjoy a glass of wine and a barbeque on the covered terrace. The garden has a swimming pool for sole use of the guests.

Despite being slightly inland, the main city of Caldas da Rainha is only 10 minutes away and the many beautiful beaches are only a 15-20 min away. The motorways are also easily accessible which make visiting ALL of the many attractions easy.

The Central Portugal region

The Silver Coast is truly a Portuguese gem, being relatively undiscovered by tourists. The people are extremely friendly, although often they do not speak English making communication quite entertaining for both parties. The climate on the Silver Coast is pleasant all year round ranging from up to 40 degrees in the height of summer to a pleasant 15 degrees during January.Dining out is quite cheap and you can expect to get a meal for two including starters,wine and coffee for around €25. Porco Preto (black pig), Stone Steak, Alentajo Pork and fish are all well worth trying.

Caldas da Rainha

Caldas da Rainha is a large city 45min north of Lisbon, it has a daily market and a weekly gypsy market and is surrounded by many beautiful typical Portuguese villages.Caldas da Rainha is home to many arts-related institutions. There are numerous museums in the city, mostly related to ceramics and sculpture. Caldas da Rainha has a vibrant shopping area, with a variety of shops specializing in clothing, jewellery, beauty supplies, home decoration, housewares, and other goods and there is a large park in the centre with a boating lake. Obidos is a medieval town just 10min away from Sao Gregorio, it is a walled city which hosts festivals throughout the year. A walk can be taken around the city walls or for a more sedatory activity there are horse drawn carriages giving a tour of the area.Foz do Arelho is the nearest beach to the house. The beach is unusual in that it is split between the sea, which is good for surfing and Obido lagoon which is tranquil and great for younger children. The beach is similar to many on the Silver Coast in that it is a large expanse of beautiful, uncrowded beach. Just outside the town there is a Go Karting centre for the more active/adventurous.Berlingo island is well worth a visit. It is a beautiful nature reserve accessed by a 20min speed boat ride from Peniche.Also at Peniche there is a "Splash and Slide park"Buddha Eden is another free attraction in the area, located near Cavalhal, this is a huge park built alongside vinyards. There is a central lake filled with Koi Carp and there are many walks throughout the park, all lined with huge oriental statues. There is also the magnificent sight of hundreds of larger than life warriors flanking the lake.The silver coast boast beautiful, green countyside and provides wonderful walks from village to village, frequently with the heady scent of eucalyptus in the air.
