Description from owner

Description

Charming & cute house in calm relaxing Sicilian Trapani countryside, near sea & old Greek temple. Two bedroom house with panorama of the green valley, located on the external walls of old town of Calatafimi Segesta.

The house has a pretty view over the green valley below. An extremely quite atmosphere as basically no cars pass by. In Calatafimi, given is few kilometers away from the sea, prices are more convenient and the atmosphere is “real”, the villagers are incredibly welcoming and nice. In summer the weather is cooler than on the seaside where sometimes gets pretty sticky and humid.

The 3 storey house, on the ground floor has a living room with a double sofa-bed, a bathroom with bath&shower, storage room, big fully furnished kitchen with dining area. There are two entry doors. On the first and second floor there are two big double bedrooms. So, it sleeps 4 people comfortably. It is possible to fit 6 people but given there is just one bathroom, better be in 4/5 people maximum. Little outdoor space in front of the house where you can enjoy meals al fresco.

The village: Calatafimi is a nice village about 350mts above sea level surrounded with a wonderful and green countryside. Olive trees, orange trees and vineyards are all around making the surrounding countryside extremely relaxing and perfect for walks and small trips. The presence of water and the altitude makes Calatafimi very pleasant even during the hot months of July and August. In the proximity of the village you have the stunning Greek temple and theatre of Segesta; two thermal Spa's open at night as well (one is organized with a swimming pool and the other one is completely natural and with free access. It's a warm water pool created among rocks, very scenographic.

The seaside at only 16km (25 mins) by car including Scopello and the famous “Zingaro” natural reserve with crystal clear waters and empty beaches. Trapani, Erice, Selinunte archeological area and Mothya are within 30 mins by car as Calatafimi is located in a strategic location and everyday you will have the chance to visit wonderful places. Also Palermo is one hour drive by the highway, as well as Monreale.

A vacation in Calatafimi is definitely perfect if you are looking for recharging your battery in a calm and idyllic environment. Art, history, nature, seaside and good food are the main asset.

Calatafimi is located in central a strategic position, so you can drive within 30 minutes to a different beach every day.

In fact all the nice places I listed before are within 30 mins drive (check the map). In Summer at Segesta Greek theatre shows and concerts are performed at night and dawn, in a great emotional atmosphere)! There is some nice fancy restaurants in the area and a lot “popular-ones” which all serve wonderful food at decent prices.

Getting around

You can easily walk the centre of Calatafimi from the house. But to get around and visit the Segesta temple, go to the seaside and more you must have a car. Unfortunately the public transportation in Sicily is very poor. There are some bus and train but I would not reccomend it. Better to rent a car at Palermo or Trapani airports. It is quite cheap.

Interaction with guest

The housekeeper who will check you in is always available to solve eventual problems. A house manual is there for you with tips and suggestions on what to do, where to go to eat etc.
