Description

Being this beautiful semi-detached villa one of the first houses built in what in his day was the small port of Cala Llonga and which over the years has become one of the most popular marines of the island of Mallorca, retains all the character of his days and is in a perfect state of preservation with a beautiful Ibicencal style.

The property is located in the area of Cala d´Or called Old Town well known for its tranquillity and the easy walking distance to the main centre of town and the Marina with all the amenities.
Most of the repeat guest of this area know perfectly how beautiful and enchanting this area is.

Set right on the water edge on top of the old port with the characteristic barracks and small moorings from where the fisherman's just to moor the small Mallorcan boats called Yauts after a long day of finishing. The location of the lovely house is unique.

When accessing the house you find a hall way area where on the left hand side are the stairs that lead to the second floor. At the end of the hall is the kitchen area, dining and living room that give access though French patio windows to the spectacular and spacious covered terrace with incredible and amazing views over the bay and the marina of Cala d'Or.

The length of time for a moment stops to enjoy this beautiful place and you can delight yourselves from the hustle and bustle of the incoming and outgoing of the Yachts that leave and enter through the beautiful Mediterranean bay of Cala Llonga out to the open sea or back to port.

On the left hand side from this terrace your find the stairs down that lead you to the beautiful pool area and if we carry on down we arrive to the direct access to the old area of the barracks and moorings.

If we go backwards in our footsteps crossed the living room we find a shower room and a few steps up lead us to a double room with two single beds.

From the entrance hall we get upstairs to the second floor where on the right hand side is a double room with twin beds and en suite bathroom and on left hand side the master bedroom with a dressing area and bathroom. From these two bedrooms you gain access to the sunny terrace from this floor.

Without the frills that society offers us today this lovely house offers a lot more. Offers moments, experiences and memories that will remain un replaceable in your hearts forever.

The place where it is set and his unique charm makes it a very special and singular home.

This property also gives the possibility of anchoring a boat on a buoy 7 meters long and 1 meter deep.

“Great location for a villa that's looking a little tired”

First, the good...we picked this villa for its location, as we'd stayed in Cala D'Or before, and on this point Villa El Club cannot be faulted - the situation is perfect. A short walk from both the marina and main town, and perfectly sited to watch the boats pass from the wonderful verandah that the property has. The 3 bedrooms are all of a very good size, and the wifi worked well. The pool is a bonus, and whilst the pictures perhaps give the impression of more room than there actually is around it, we found it very welcome to cool off in. Now the not-so-good, and downright bad... The villa is clearly rather tired and in need of a general overhaul and coat of paint ! A review last September implied an imminent refurbishment of the kitchen, which has obviously not happened despite badly needing it. As there was no welcome pack or instructions provided for anything, we were unable to get the gas cooker to light, so avoided using it altogether. There was a slight smell of drains from the main bathroom which grew steadily worse as our week progressed, and towards the end of the week it was so bad we felt obliged to report it to the agents. However, the maintenance man who arrived the next day could find nothing wrong and left after 5 minutes, leaving the revolting smell to remain. We left all the windows open and the door shut to air the room as best as possible, but by the time we left on the Saturday it was terrible ! The portable aircon units provided worked reasonably well, but were extremely noisy, so could not be left on even a low setting during the night. Your choice is therefore to sleep in an oven, or open the doors and risk letting the mosquitos and other sundry bugs in - we got bitten all week as a result. Beware of the impression given by the wonderful photos as like the villa itself, they all need updating ! The paintwork is peeling, most of the metal railings etc are rusting, and the ceiling fan in the main bedroom swung so violently due to a loose fitting that it too was unusable. We've stayed in many villas in our time, and thought this one looked perfect. We'd definitely return to Cala D'Or, but never to this villa unless it gets the refurbishment it desperately needs.

Owner's reply: Dear Richard, First of all thank you for taking the time to review Villa El Club and for your kind comments to start with. Regarding the not-so-good and downright bad, the following.The villa is a beautifully located but antique and no modern house with antique ornaments and style which matches the villa but is not to everyone´s taste. The kitchen was supposed to be renovated before the start of the season but unfortunately we didn´t get the license in time to have the work done. Regarding the gas cooker, we weren´t aware this was causing any problems as you didn´t mention it on your stay. When the following clients arrived they did mention it and we went to find out that the gas bottle was locked and only needed the switch to be turned. We´re sorry we didn´t get the chance to resolve this on your stay by not knowing and therefor causing you problems. The smell of the drains was caused by the movements of the sea and earth which sometimes happens. These movements might affect the tube system by times, like wind and heath and there is not much to be done about it. This is actually the first time we had this issue on this villa. Another issue was caused by the mosquitos but they are everywhere. It´s terrible to be bitten and itching but it´s nature and unfortunately we all suffer from it. Please note that before our clients arrival we have our villas checked the best we can and we send the clients (driving) directions and emergency numbers. If we know about any issues on their stay, we try to solve it in the quickest possible way but again, we need to hear it from our clients as they are the ones staying at our properties. Without knowing we can´t resolve any issues and are hit hard by a bad review. Thank you again for your comments and we hope to have given you a good explanation. Kind regards, Open d´Or Team
