Location

The caravan is located at Caister-on-Sea, approximately 4 miles north of Great Yarmouth. It is sited at Elm Beach Caravan Park, which is a small, select, 4 star site that prides itself in offering a safe, peaceful and friendly environment where you can recharge your batteries and "chill out". There are no entertainment facilities, such as pubs, shops and recreation areas at this site. However, these are available within easy walking distance. It is also just a short walk into the centre of Caister.

Outside the caravan there is parking for up to two cars, and a grassy area for sitting out at bench table provided. As you walk outside you are literally a few steps from the sandy beach . The beach is quiet even in the height of summer. There is a cafe in Manor Road 5 minutes walk away, open all year round.

The centre of the village of Caister-on-Sea is only 5-10 minutes walk, with supermarkets, a fish shop selling fresh fish, a butchers and a bakery. There are also restaurants and take-aways eg Indian, Chinese and fish and chip shops. Great Yarmouth offers old fashioned seaside fun for all the family. It is possible to walk there along the beach, or take one of the regular buses from Caister.

The Norfolk Broads are 5 minutes drive away, from where you can hire a boat or canoe, or walk or cycle along footpaths and boardwalks. The location is an ideal base to explore the Norfolk and Suffolk coastlines and quaint villages. The city of Norwich, perfect for shopping, is 1/2hr away by car.

We bought the caravan on a whim, after visiting the Norfolk Broads and ending up at the coast. As we were standing on the beach it started snowing - it was magical. We thought how nice it would be to own one of the nearby caravans, overlooking the sea. And that's how we ended up buying a caravan.

Despite visiting several times over the past few years, we are still amazed by how much this area has to offer, and how much more there is to discover. Whether you enjoy walking, sailing, fishing (directly on the beach), cycling, wildlife, photography, painting, the thrills of a seaside town, shopping, or just watching the world go by, there is something to suit everyone, of all ages.

Minimum stay normally 7 nights. However we will consider a shorter break out of season - please ask for a quote.

Arrival:- we do not live locally, so there is a key safe on the side of the caravan, so you can let yourselves in when you arrive.

Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

Despite visiting several times over the past few years, we are still amazed by how much this area has to offer, and how much more there is to discover. We bought the caravan on a whim 6 years ago, after visiting the Norfolk Broads and ending up at the coast. As we stood on the beach it started snowing - it was magical. We thought how nice it would be to own one of the nearby caravans, just a few yards away from us. And that's how we ended up buying a caravan.Norfolk is apparently one of the driest and sunniest counties in the UK. Of course, with the beach so close, there is no need to stray very far, especially if you have young children. There is also plenty to do in Great Yarmouth, and Bewilderwood is a must. The Norfolk Broads - waterways, boating and fishing are 3-4 miles away. You can also cycle or walk on flat land and the area is wonderful for nature lovers. Rare birds such as the bittern, crane and marsh harriers can be seen, as well as the swallow tail butterfly unique to Norfolk. Seals can also be seen, swimming in the sea, from the caravan and if you are lucky, you might spot the occasional dolphin! There are quaint villages such as Holt, Burnham Market, and Cley next the Sea. Blakeney point has seal viewing trips. Towns on the coast worth visiting include Cromer, Southwold and Walberswick. Norwich is apparently a great place for shopaholics! For food lovers, we can recommend The Swan at Ingham, mentioned in the Michelin Guide, and there are several pubs with good food, such as The Nelson Head at Horsey and the Fisherman's Return at Winterton on Sea. You can also observe seals on the beach - from a viewing platform near Winterton /Horsey. At Horsey you can visit the windmill and it is a great place to enjoy the sunsets. Whether you enjoy walking, sailing, canoeing, fishing (directly on the beach), cycling, wildlife, photography, painting, the thrills of a seaside town, or just watching the world go by, there is something to suit everyone. Some of the highlights: eating fish and chips on the beach;seeing a bittern, marsh harriers and a swallowtail butterfly at Strumpshaw Fen, and Titchwell Marsh RSPB centres; spotting seals and a dolphin swimming in the sea directly outside the caravan, or from the comfort of the sofa; a thrill on the Big Dipper and Segway racing at Great Yarmouth Pleasure Beach; collecting hag stones (stones with naturally occuring holes through the middle) on the beach; canoeing for the first time along the Broads (a good test of a relationship!)

Caister on Sea

The Park is quiet and peaceful. Caister-on-Sea is a village within 5 -10 minutes walk, and has everything you need in the way of shops, take-aways & restaurants. You can fish from the beach, or go on fishing trips and also enjoy water sports. Fishermen bring in their catch and nothing is better than fresh fish straight from the beach! Great Yarmouth is a traditional seaside town 3 miles away. It is possible to walk there along the beach - taking approximately 1 hour. There is a Pleasure Beach with night life and rides suitable for all the family, as well as night clubs, casino and places to eat out. You are bound to see seals bobbing their heads above the water directly in front of the caravan and if you are lucky, you may even spot the occasional dolphin!

“Great Seaview Happy”

Reviewed 27 Oct 2016

Nice clean and tidy caravan on a well looked after site. the views from the caravan was really nice and peaceful. loved the night time with the moon shiniing through the windows. and the waves crashing on the beach. kids loved it as they was so close to the beach without walking which was good for us. The site had a laundry room which was reasonably price with good machine, would highly recommend the site for a nice and peaceful enviroment.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to review our holiday home. So glad you enjoyed the caravan - and the sea view. The moon over the sea, and the sunrises are magical. Hope to welcome you again sometime.

“Attention to detail and a perfect location”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2015

Every care has been taken by the owners to ensure that this holiday home is the perfect getaway for everyone. There has been a great deal of thought put into the presentation of the rooms, using natural materials often gathered from the seashore itself and carefully arranged. It is extremely well equipped with many thoughtful touches which elevate it from good to excellent and yet it remains a cosy and homely place to stay. The location is amazing... looking directly out onto the beach and cannot be overestimated as a big plus when holidaying with children as I was. We stepped out of the door onto the beach with no need for shoes or toting heavy bags full of beach stuff. We simply walked back and forth to the van enjoying all the beach had to offer. I would recommend this highly as one of the best located and best presented holiday homes I have stayed in...and I have stayed in a lot! My granddaughter said this was the best holiday ever and I could only agree with her.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to write your lovely review. We are so glad to hear you enjoyed it. For us it is not just a holiday rental, it is also our own home from home to escape to, but with the bonus of the beach at the door and a sea view too! We would love to welcome you and your granddaughter again sometime.

“Great location”

Fabulous location, lovely clean well equipped caravan, and the owners had left us a bottle of complimentary wine, chocs and biscuits, the caravan is well situated, just a few steps away from the beach and the site is nice and quiet, would definately recommend to anyone.

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to review our holiday home on the beach. Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again some time.

“Peaceful & relaxing”

Reviewed 3 Jul 2014

Caravan clean & relaxing with everything provided for a good break, WiFi an added bonus. Location almost impossible to beat with views of an ever changing sea scape. Very quiet site yet near amenities if required, bliss...

Owner's reply: Thank you for taking the time to review our place - we are so glad you enjoyed staying there and found it as relaxing as we do. Hope you will visit again sometime. Jo & Steve
