The Algarve region

In the East Algarve you can find some of the most beautiful beaches of Portugal, but it's also a region where you can live different experiences. Here you can do nature tourism, hiking, cycling, play golf in several great golf courses or enjoy the traditional gastronomy. There is a lot to be discovered, a lot you can do...or nothing if you prefer! There are places you can't miss:

Cacela Velha (5 minutes walking): Cacela Velha still shows the traces of the Roman and Arabic occupation, and looks as if the time has stopped preserving so much of its influences. Here you have to rest by the Church enjoying the wonderful view and be marveled by the sunset. The views are unforgettable. It's also a great place to have lunch or dinner.

Castro Marim (15 minutes driving): Being a well preserved historic town, Castro Marim is transformed (by the end of August) into a medieval stage, to recreate the Middle Ages.

Tavira (15 minutes driving): Tavira has a very rich history. Its origin dates back around 2.000 BC. After the earthquake in 1755 the town has been completely rebuilt with many fine 18th Century buildings and 37 churches. Here you can take the ferry (10 minutes) to the Island of Tavira or walk in the city resting and enjoying its traditional fish gastronomy.

Vila Real de Santo Antonio (15 minutes driving): In the southeastern point of Portugal where the Guadiana river finds the Atlantic Ocean lies Vila Real. The town was rebuilt in 1775 by the Marques de Pombal who has applied the same concept of town planning that was used in the portuguese capital- Lisbon. Here you can take the ferry to Spain (10 minutes).

“Idillyc to say the least...”

Arriving at Quiet Waters is easy following the directions Vitor kindly gives throughout all the arrangements. Vitor really is the perfect host! After getting there we where kindly received and introduced to the house and its surroundings and then the whole experience starts, the most peaceful and delightful experience! The house is amazingly cleaned, furnished and lacks none of the commodities or appliances needed for the stay. The garden and the private porch in front of the house are amazing for relaxation, stargazing or just sitting quietly listening to the nature sounds that come from the lake... We had an amazing time at Quiet Waters, and the best time at Cacela Velha's beach with the breathtaking views of the Ria Formosa and the sea! I highly recommend Quiet Waters to anyone who is looking for serendipity and the perfect place to recover from daily life routine.

“From sunrise to sunset life peeks in Quiet Waters!”

Quiet Waters was a wonderful experience that extends beyond the holidays we spent in a place so full of life and tranquility. The host family with which we share unforgettable moments turned these holidays in something very special, contributing to the feeling of having discovered a magical place to which we would like to return. The location is great, with wonderful views, the house has everything you need. For us the contact with nature and animals in a natural way added to the warmth relations established turns it in a unique place.

We stayed for 10 days. It's a lovely quiet place, great views and easy beach access. Beautiful house and gardens that reflects the hosts' outstanding taste. Vitor and Claudia were incredible hosts and made everything work smoothly. We'll definitely return

“Unforgettable short stay, we must return for a longer vacation!”

Very pleasant accommodation in many ways: location (incredible view to the sea and the magic old village of "Cacela Velha"); five minutes walking from the village centre and the boat crossing to the beach; great gastronomy in the village; very welcoming family hosting the Quiet Waters; modern, very comfortable and beautifully designed house with loads of space and light; beautiful garden and unforgettable natural pool (its a pond!), great for the kids & parents to swim in a rare but very pleasant environment; fantastic sounds (melodies!) of birdsong, crickets, cicadas and a fantastic choir of frogs in the pond (specially in the night); privacy guaranteed; irreproachable hygiene; good internet access; fair fare absolutely justified. We didn't find motives for criticism. The property is next to the main road but the traffic was very moderate and quiet.

“Quiet Waters is an oasis on the Algarve, relaxing and peaceful, with charming hosts.”

It was a joy to be so close to the sea and also in the countryside. Goats being led to their pastures in a nearby field. The natural swimming pool beside the apartment, with beautiful lilies and frogs was enchanting with each swim. Just a long the road, a beach which can be reached by ferry boats on the lagoon, a little church, a fortress and the church bistro with great oysters, shrimps and wonderful wine!

“MUY BUEN TRATO , ATENCIÓN IMPECABLE .”
