Sorry, dogs and smoking are not allowed in the cottage.

Includes bedding, towels, a welcome pack, breakfast cereal, tea, coffee, sugar, milk, fruit, soap, bath soaks, shower gel, as well as a few sauces and herbs and spices.

There are no cleaning fees added, so I would just ask that you please leave the cottage as you would your own place.

The cottage has high ceilings (having being converted from a small barn built in the mid 1850's, retaining its original character (so don't expect ' boutique hotel' style accommodation). The cottage is part of a little 'complex' of converted, abutting farm buildings, so has a very rustic, safe and friendly feel and the interior of the cottage feels very private and cosy, with a hassle free log effect fire.

There are DVDs, games and books to keep you entertained as well as access to the internet .

There is a little area to sit outside (with a little picket fence to separate you from parking and other little terraces) which gets the sun most of the day, and you can feel cosy and comfortable in the (centrally heated) lounge in the

All information about the Cottage and surrounding area is in the cottage but I will always come and meet you if you wish at some point during your visit if possible. A car is not necessary to enjoy the cottage and delights of Buxton and the Peak District.

Location description from owner

The England region

The Peak District was the first National Park and boasts fantastic walking and cycling routes. There are many lovely picturesque villages each with its own character and amenities, such as Bakewell and Tideswell, and easily reachable from Buxton. There is the Monsal and Tissington Trails as well as other public footpaths winding through the Peaks of the Peak District. There is beauriful Chatsworth House with its fabulous gardens and extensive grounds and shops. There is also Haddon Hall, worth a visit to see this lovely old house. There are things to do for all the family and places to visit in all seasons and weather. Cromford and Matlock have an extensive range of old Mills that are museums and shops. There is a vast heritage to explore in the Peak District National Park that extends into Derbyshire, Shropshire and Cheshire.

Buxton

Buxton is a bustling Spa Town that has a history that dates back to Roman Times known as Aquae Arnemetiae (meaning water of the Sacred Groves). Buxton Opera House is the highest theatre in England (at 1000 ft). Buxton Spa (or Spring) Water still comes through St Margarets Well opposite the Crescent at the bottom of the Slopes, adjacent to the lovely Cavendish Shopping Arcade (with an original 'bath' in it) and Spring Gardens and High Street Shopping.

The Pavilion Gardens encompass the Arts Theatre, the Octagon, where there are various craft and artisan fairs most weekends, and the beautiful gardens that have wonderful children's play areas. Buxton is a year round venue with Buxton Festival and Fringe Festival in July, the Family Fun days in the Gardens in August, Buxton Adventure Festival in October.

In the run up to Christmas there are Christmas Fairs at the Octagon and Dome (worth a visit)., along with Christmas Lunches at the Pavilion Gardens Restaurant. The Cavendish Arcade has lovely quirky shops and cafes as well as an original Spa Hydrotherapy pool. Poole Cavern is fascinating and is a place of special geographical note, from here you can also walk up to Solomo Temple (folly) and the most wonderful view you can imagine. There are two Golf Courses in Buxton (one a two minute walk away) and a swimming pool (in the gardens) and tennis courts. There are pubs, restaurants and cafes to suit all tastes and pockets, and some venues have regular live music at the weekends. All in all Buxton has something to suit everyone with something happening almost all year round.

“Wonderful Autum”

Reviewed 29 Oct 2015

This cottage was a little difficult to find but once found was lovely. Very cosy the owner had thought of everything including a welcome pack. The walking and weather made the long week-end a blissful break. There were 4 of us in the cottage and plenty of room.

I hoped the directions I sent, in the arrival information pack, was clear. I will review the information and try and make easier to find. Thanks for the lovely review.
