Relax and and fully re-charge with Betsy Cottage. She is a Medieval Grade II listed cottage, which has been beautifully restored to a very high standard. The ancient beams and flagstone floors retain the authentic character and charm of this peaceful and romantic retreat. Get a wonderful nights sleep in an ornate four poster which is dressed in luxurious bedding. Betsy also boasts a wonderfully comfortable, working antique copper bath in the bedroom. Off the main bedroom is a small toilet/hand basin room. The living room provides a stunning Inglenook fireplace complete with wood-burning stove and bread oven. There is also a sofa and armchair, table and chairs, rocking chair, TV and DVD player. The small kitchen has a butler sink, mini-oven with 2 hobs, microwave, kettle, toaster and fridge with freezer compartment. The outside seating area is within a shared courtyard. There is also ample unrestricted roadside parking nearby. Glastonbury is a 5min drive away, as is Street with its outlet shopping at Clarks Village. Wells is 20mins and Bath and Bristol 50mins drive away. The cottage is located in the heart of the conservation village of Butleigh; a charming little village tucked away at the head of the Somerset Levels, Butleigh boasts its own shop, Post Office and a friendly local pub selling excellent local ales and traditional food. Much of the countryside is an Area Of Outstanding Natural Beauty perfect for country walks.

“Quaint and Quirky but needs improvement”
A beautiful quaint and well located cottage in village with pub and post office/store. Impressive bedroom, with comfortable mattress and feature copper bath. But be warned the bath is the only means of washing, so fine if you are agile and flexible and can still wash your hair over the bath. Although I'm a 'soft' southerner, I would have appreciated it if the property had been warmed through before we arrived. I spent the first 12 hours wondering if I was going to freeze for the whole weekend. The wood that was left was damp and wouldn't catch, so even the log fire was a non starter on the first day. Once we got more dry wood, and mastered the heating system, this did make the lounge cosy for the remainder. The kitchen could do with some extraction, and better cooking facilities. The cooker in situ was only a small one, connected to the mains, and not on a spur of it's own. Therefore you could only use the hob or oven, not both at the same time. I must say, that it all felt a bit basic, and whilst I appreciate that the price probably reflects this, I have previously stayed in compact and quirky cottages, without feeling like I was 'roughing' it. Take note from the Toll Cottage, a similar cottage, in Nether Stowey which was compact but a pleasure to stay in. I would only return in the summer, and if the cooking facilities were improved. Having said that, the guest book was full of people very satisfied, so it may be just me!!
Owner's reply: Well we certainly aspire for better than that! - the property is 500 years old and so we have to work with what we have. There simply isn't room in the kitchen to fit a full sized oven and extraction. - The bath is described in the cottage description and we do provide a jug so you don't have to do any acrobats in order to wash your hair. - I am very sorry you found the wood damp, we are always more than happy to sort problems out so you could have popped up and swapped it. The heaters were on thermostats set low, it costs a lot of money to keep them on high and usually this is enough to keep the ambient temperature up. We are very sorry you felt only to give us a 3 bubble review. Thank you for your comments though.
The perfect place to escape for a lovely weekend away very comfortable and cosy just what we needed will definitely be returning next year the perfect way to recharge your batteries x

“Takes You Back In Time”
Very nice comfortable old cottage with a wood burning stove and copper bath in the bedroom. Can help you imagine what it must of been like to be living in the "Olden Times" There is no shower and I'm not a bath fan but would definitely like to rent this property again.
