Relax, laugh, unwind. Welcome to our charming , self catering gite in the rural Haute Vienne region of France. Set in the tiny hamlet of Chez Gouillard, Lake View is a delightful stone built cottage overlooking its own 2.5 acre fishing lake and surrounded by a large granite house, barn and stone pig sties. At the front of the cottage is an ornamental pond.
The gardens of the house lead to a large open meadow which slopes gently to reveal a sparkling, reed fringed lake. With access all around the lake, swims to fish from and ten acres of meadowland to enjoy, Lake View will be the perfect location to escape from the hurly burly and re-charge your batteries.
The cottage has the added attraction of your own pool which also overlooks the lake.
Bussiere Poitevine, the nearest little town provides for all of your needs. You will find a bakery, grocery, butchers/charcuterie, bar, cafe, post office, bank and pharmacy.
There is a twice weekly market with stalls boasting delicious cheeses, fruit and vegetables and fresh fish.
It is conveniently placed for discovering the peaceful French countryside on foot, cycle or car and perhaps for a little excitement, the nearby river Gartempe provides kayaking and white water rafting.

The Limousin region
Land of lakes and mountains, valleys and forests, crashing rivers and traditional villages. Made up of three departments Creuse, Correze and Haute Vienne, it is one of the least populated regions in France.
Limousin derives its name from the town of Limoges in the Haute Vienne, capital of the 'Fire arts,” porcelain, stained glass and enamel.
The region attracts those who enjoy a range of activities including walking, fishing, cycling, golf, canoeing and sailing.
The local gastronomy can be found in the markets and fairs that take place in many of the villages. There are plenty of flavours to savour with numerous festivals in celebration of food being held throughout the year.
For enthusiasts of the outdoors and wildlife the region is a gem. It is heavily wooded and contains a massive network of rivers and lakes. Track and maybe catch sight of fallow deer, fox, red squirrel and if you're lucky wild boar. Summer sunshine brings out some beautiful butterflies and moths and for bird lovers summer visitors include the exotic looking Hoopoe and the glorious Golden Oriole.
The region, located in the middle of France is renowned for the mild climate and on average receives 1,974. hours of sunshine each year. The gentle climate helps to create a charming landscape.
Local places to explore.
The traditional french town of Le Dorat, with its superb producers market. Held every other Thursday evening throughout the summer, your locally supplied food is brought, cooked and eaten outdoors accompanied by music and dancing.
Montmorillon, a pretty, tranquil town sitting by the side of the Gartempe river focuses on the crafts surrounding the written word. Bookbinding, calligraphy and numerous antique bookshops are found in the medieval heart of the town. it's cafes and restaurants serve up good traditional cuisine in an hospitable atmosphere.
Take off to Lake St Pardoux or Lake Vassiviere, huge lakes with their own man-made beaches for lazing on and watersports such as wind-surfing, water ski-ing, sailing and canoeing.
Futuroscope located just outside of Poitiers is one of France's popular theme parks.
For motor-sport lovers forty-five minutes away is the circuit of Val de Vienne, providing exciting race action throughout the summer.
The beautiful city of Angouleme hosts for 3 days each September an astonishing classic and vintage sports car event culminating in a race for honours around the city centre's street circuit. Spectators line the ramparts to cheer on their favourite Bugatti, Ferrari, or Porsche.
