The Cart Lodge is a grade 2 listed barn that has been lovingly restored to a very high standard while retaining a lot of its original character.This spacious and comfortable barn is part of the Lackford Lakes Barns holiday complex and has been awarded a 4 star gold award by the visit England quality in Tourism assessor. The Barn stands detached within its own enclosed garden surrounded by Lackford Lakes nature reserve where you can go for walks, bird watch from various hides looking out onto the reserve's 12 lakes. Here you can relax and escape from everything yet there is so much to visit, see and do with the beautiful,historic and lively market town of Bury St Edmunds only 5 miles away. The exciting racing town of Newmarket is only 12 miles away. Thetford Forest with its cycling trails and "go ape" high ropes is also close by. If you wish to go further afield, the beautiful Suffolk villages of Lavenham and Clare await as does constable country. We are equidistant from Norwich, Ipswich and Cambridge, even the East Suffolk Coast and North Norfolk coasts are only a day trip away.

This accommodation lends itself very well to a reunion of friends and family groups of all ages there is also a well equipped games room.

We were a group of three adults and 4 young children staying in The Cart Lodge. Accommodation was really attractive, immaculate, great size rooms and all the creature comforts you could ask for. Also the games room was a great addition too. I really recommend booking here and will definitely be looking to return. You do need a car to get around, but this was made clear in the description so came as no shock to us. Lots to see and do in the area though which kept our troops entertained. We went to the local Anglo Saxon village, Ickwork Hall, Lackford Lakes and Bury St Edmunds and would recommend them all.

It's got table tennis, pool, darts and table football. We've got quite a lot of out door games for sunny weather too - giant genga, connect 4, badminton, boules, skittles etc...

Well, what a well furnished, well-stocked barn conversion. In the heart of the countryside, near the bird reserve, yet close to Bury St Edmunds. We came for a sad occasion but would willingly return at a more cheerful time.

We had a fantastic stay at the Cart Losge for 3 nights in early November 3016. The house was excellent- lovely and warm with everything we needed. We enjoyed trips to Bury, Thetford and walks around Lackford Lakes. We would love to return!

We're lucky to be surrounded by the Lakes and some of the best bird watching is at this time of the year when migratory birds are over wintering here. Great place to stay to see Bury St Edmunds. We attended a wedding at Hengrave Hall. So convenient and lovely for family to be together in. Clean, spacious, all amenities and a lovely location. Highly recommend for friends or family get together.

The Cart Lodge was in a great location to the places we were visiting and was next to the nature reserve which made for lovely walks and bird watching. The lodge was very comfortable and ideal for our needs.

We have just returned from a pre Christmas weekend with the family at the Cart Lodge. It is a lovely lodge, in a fantastic location. All the rooms are at a high standard, with everything you need for a relaxed and comfortable stay. We will definitely return!

It is just what we need for very good accommodation, beautiful venue and local amenities. We are a group of sewing enthusiasts and enjoy the luxury of the communal space for working and laughing together, whilst having sufficient bedrooms for individuals. We have located good pubs nearby, as well as the Risby Barns antiques centre, Tea Rooms and Cosy Cabin Quilters shop. We are always welcomed by Emma and her assistants, who enjoy seeing what we're creating.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.
