** New from January 2016 - Smart TV with free Netflix

Stunningly decorated and designed to a high standard, we think you will find everything you need for a relaxing and very comfortable holiday. If you're staying in, the kitchen contains all the equipment and facilities a creative cook will be happy with. It will be no surprise that there's a fridge and a microwave, but there's also a full size freezer for your ice cream and more, plus a conventional oven for your Sunday roast. Our stylish furniture has been carefully selected to provide comfort and relaxation, and on sunny days you'll want to roll back the doors and let the outside in. Sun loungers and outdoor dining table allow you to make the most of the daytime sun and the garden area is lit for evening use too.

Perfect for relaxation but with plenty of local attractions, this contemporary five-star (applied for) lodge, appears in a country garden setting amidst the Suffolk countryside, at the heart

Location description from owner

The East Anglia region

An ideal location in the centre of East Anglia, with easy routes to Cambridge and the Fens, Norfolk Coast and Broads, Suffolk Heritage Coast and Constable Country. The region is known for its many historic and attractive villages, where you'll often see the local thatch and timber framed cottages. At the characterful and livelier centres of Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Norwich you will find great shopping experiences, historic buildings such as castles, abbeys and cathedrals, plus theatres, cinemas, and a range of restaurants and bars.

The countryside of East Anglia is characterised by sweeping views across fields of corn, wild areas including forest, fens and heath, and natural coastlines dotted with charming coastal towns such as Cromer, Aldeburgh and Southwold. Most of the towns are small ones, market towns where local heritage is treasured, and traders are more likely to be one-offs rather than multiples. Diss is well-known for Thomas Gaze's Auction rooms where the weekly Friday auctions sees local characters mix with London dealers. Bungay is perched on a hill overlooking the water meadows where cattle drink from the Waveney, and the mainly Edwardian town of Bury St Edmunds bustles on its market days of Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Bury St. Edmunds

Stanton is ideally situated in the middle of East Anglia, between the market towns of Bury St. Edmunds and Diss, amongst other attractive Suffolk villages where cottages are often painted and many still are thatched. One of the best served villages locally, Stanton has a village stores, two bakers, an excellent farm shop (with delicatessen), a farmers market, cafe and restaurant (all at Wyken Vineyards), a village pub, a petrol station, hardware shop and post office. The adjoining village of Ixworth has two pubs, both serving food, a library (internet access), a cafe and a village stores, whilst in the other direction, Walsham le Willows boasts Rolfe's the Butcher, 'Suffolks Best Butcher' which also sells groceries, cold meats and cheeses.

Walking in Suffolk isn't at all strenuous due to the gentle landscape but the wide and changing horizons of sky and fields make walking a pleasure, and you're seldom far from a village or small town.

Nearby Bury has loads of eateries, multi-screen cinema and Picture House, a delightful small Theatre Royal, and the Apex arts venue.

“Lovely Lodge, Peaceful and relaxing retreat”

Reviewed 15 Jul 2016

Arrived to find a lovely welcoming note from Debbie and Ian with some local cordial, milk and biscuits for us to nibble on as we unpacked. We went to the local fish and chip shop that night as we had done previously and wasn't disappointed, especially the side portion of kebab meat if you like that. We used the hot tub that night and was just how we remembered it, relaxing and warm with the sun setting and bats flying overhead. The next day we ventured into Bury St Edmunds for some shopping and a bite to eat and that evening we went to the local Norton Dog pub for our evening meal and what a friendly and welcoming atmosphere from the staff, the food was delicious and huge portions and as it was a week night was relatively quiet. The next day we ventured into Bury St Edmunds again but this time to the Abbey Gardens and Cathedral, wow what a place, steeped in history and the Cathedral was breathtaking. The local school were practicing for there leavers concert and if the place didn't give you goosebumps already the acoustics from them singing and playing instruments certainly did. We decided to cook ourselves that evening which with a fully stocked kitchen made it easy to do so plus we got to spend more time in the hot tub as we hadn't gone out that evening. We left Thursday Morning feeling refreshed and relaxed. We will be back again soon and maybe for a few more nights next time. The service was second to none, the lodge had everything that we needed and the location is just right to be peaceful but close to local shops.

We're so lucky to have a great little town so close, and we're glad to hear you had a good break. Thanks so much for sharing your experience!
