Hill View is a beautiful, garden fronted 18th Century stone, self catering holiday cottage, ideally placed in the Cumbrian village of Burton-in-Kendal. Tastefully renovated and refurbished to high standards with exposed stonework and beamed ceilings. Recently graded 4* with Quality in Tourism/Visit Britain.

Excellent accommodation from which to explore the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales National Parks, Morecambe Bay coastline and the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Oustanding Natural Beauty , which includes the fantastic RSPB reserve at Leighton moss.

The spacious two bedroomed cottage comprises of an open living/ elevated dining area with a large stone inglenook fireplace with multifuel stove. A well equipped kitchen and separate utility room. Downstairs W.C. First floor with galleried landing, master and twin bedded room, walk in wardrobe and a four piece generous sized bathroom. To the rear is a courtyard and a lockable shed.

The English Lake District, magnificent scenery, breathtaking lake views, numerous outdoor activities and all within easy distance of Burton-in-kendal.

Enjoy the excitement of Cartmel races, the fun of the country shows, taste the local produce and truly soak in the unique atmosphere, that inspired famous poets, painters and writers.

Burton in Kendal

A thriving historical village with post-office/general store and a very welcoming pub the Kings Arms all within a few minutes walk of 300 year old Hill View cottage. There are tennis courts, a bowling green and childrens play area within 5 minutes walk from the cottage.

Glaneils boarding kennels/cattery is also available in the village for pet owners.

The village was first recorded in the Domesday Book of 1086, with the name "Bortun" meaning 'fortified farmstead'.

Burton-in-kendal is an excellent base to discover local attractions, with Greenlands farm village just 2km away where you can shop at their butchers, craftwork and gifts centre, create your own pottery,add garden colour at the garden centre and allow your children to play at the indoor play zone. Lastly take a well earned break at their cafe.

Step back in time and visit Carnforth station, which was the film setting for 'A Brief Encounter' enjoy its nostalgia whilst having light refreshments at its station cafe.

The Arnside and Silverdale area of oustanding natural beauty is close by, just 10 minutes by car and within easy cycling distance (mostly on quiet rural lanes). This tranquil haven is a place where you can relax, visit numerous nature reserves and generally escape the pressures of everyday life. Highlights include the RSPB reserve at Leighton Moss and the local Nature reserve at Warton Crag, with interesting nature trails, bird-watching galore and lots of opportunities to see all sorts of rare wildlife.

Kirkby Lonsdale an historic market town (15 minutes by car) with numerous traditional local traders and riverside walks to Devils Bridge, a medieval ancient monument.

Kendal, the gateway to the Lakes,is a bustling market town (20 minutes by car) with plenty of fashionable shopping with the addition of K-village, the lakes outlet shopping centre. It also has an art gallery, a museum of lakeland life and a theatre/arts centre.

Historic houses nearby include, Sizergh Castle, steeped in history and set in beautiful grounds to explore and Levens Hall, an Elizabethan mansion with many points of interest.

Burton-in-kendal has easy access to the M6 motorway to visit the historic city of Lancaster, with its castle and courts where the Pendle Witches were tried and hung and just up the coast is the seaside town of Morecambe.

"Wonderful, comfy, cosy and well appointed cottage"

Everything you could wish for, even down to the cosy log burner in the lounge. Very well appointed throughout with thought being given to provide those extra touches to make it feel like home from home. We didn't want to leave.
