Location description from owner

The England region

The magnificent Dorset coastline, together with the outstanding natural beauty of the unspoilt countryside, makes this county a very special place to come and explore.

Discover the breathtaking Jurassic Coast, England's first natural World Heritage Site, stretching for 95 miles from neighbouring East Devon to Studland Bay in Dorset. There is so much to do along this stunning coastline, which is world famous for fossil hunting. There are wonderful views for walkers on the South West Coast Path National Trail, or you can simply enjoy the spectacular scenery on a gentle coastal cruise.

Away from the coast you will find miles and miles of rolling countryside sprinkled with charming villages and fascinating market towns. Almost all of Dorset's countryside is protected and is home to a huge diversity of wildlife in downlands, tranquil river valleys, water meadows, woodlands and colourful heathlands.

This is also Thomas Hardy country - ancient Wessex, home of the Mayor of Casterbridge, Tess of the D'urbervilles and Jude the Obscure. You will find many other famous literary associations across the area including Jane Austen, John Fowles, TE Lawrence and Enid Blyton.

“Wonderful stay - perfect location and cottage”

Reviewed 30 May 2011

The cottage was lovely and had everything we needed for a fantastic week break. The garden was pretty and the location of the cottage was perfect for enjoying the Dorset coast and countryside. It's an idyllic walk throught the pretty village, along the stream and through a couple of fields to the beach! We went to the beach cafe which was very nice and to the pubs in the village which were also very nice. I thoroughly recommend Minnie's Cottage!

“Bliss in Burton Bradstock”

Reviewed 21 May 2011

Quite simply it was one of the best family holidays we ever had. The cottage is set in a charming tranquil village of Burton Bradstock which had the signature hallmarks of a quaint dorset village. The cottage is a reasonable size for a family of four with two spacious double bedrooms, a comfortable sitting area a well equiped kitchen. It also boasts a delightful garden in the back where we enjoyed alfresco dining as well as a restful place to read and enjoy the peace! The market town of Bridport is only a short 5 minute drive away (Sainsbury Supermarket). We also made a few trips to Lyme and Charmouth which are quite close by. Another plus was being just a short 10 minute walk from the beach where I managed to fish a couple of times. Although I did not catch anything this was more than compensated by a pod of dolphins that i was privileged to watch as they were chasing mackerel up the shore. The beach is where we spent our final evening where we enjoyed a modest bbq watching the sun set. My thanks to Simon for contributing towards a lovely holiday.
