Celebrate Christmas or New Year at Burrington Farm
Burrington Farmhouse is a traditional Somerset Longhouse that dates back to the 15th Century. This characterful family home offers spacious and well-furnished rooms. These include flagstone floors, oak beams and attractive open fireplaces. The floors are strewn with oriental rugs and the walls are hung with original paintings together with old and new photographs; there are also books galore.

The exceptional character is complemented by its modern facilities which include power showers, two flat screen TV's, a DVD player, iPod, Digital radio and of course wireless internet access.

At the hub of the house is the large farmhouse kitchen. At one end is the oil-fired Aga which radiates constant warmth and is used for most the cooking, at the other is a modern Smeg electric stove with a gas hob, between them there runs a 9 foot

The exceptional character is complemented by its modern facilities which include power showers, two flat screen TV's, a DVD player, iPod, Digital radio and of course wireless internet access.

At the hub of the house is the large farmhouse kitchen. At one end is the oil-fired Aga which radiates constant warmth and is used for most the cooking, at the other is a modern Smeg electric stove with a gas hob, between them there runs a 9 foot long 250 year old refectory table. There's also a superb butchers block that has been sculptured over the years into a work of art.

The upstairs accommodation comprises five very individual double bedrooms (two en-suite and one with its own private bathroom). There is also a beautiful family bathroom with a large Edwardian bath.

Set in a quiet lane, this spacious Longhouse is perfectly located for exploring the stunning Somerset countryside. The Plume of Feathers in Rickford is a pleasant 10 minute walk. A more challenging walk is to the top of Black Down where you can see 5 counties.

Burrington Farm comes into its own at Christmas. With the log fires blazing and the wine flowing there's no better place on earth.

A complimentary welcome hamper with local wine, mince pies, crusty bread, real Cheddar (we're only 15 minutes away), homemade pickles and jams, tea and coffee will be provided on arrival. And upstairs freshly made beds, and fluffy towels await.

An area of outstanding natural beauty

The farmhouse is in the village of Burrington, a picturesque hamlet on the foothills of the Mendips. This designated area of outstanding natural beauty is excellent walking, riding, mountain biking, cycling, rock climbing, pot holing and ballooning country. The property is within casting distance of the famous trout lake of Blagdon. (Burrington Farm is also handy for people getting hitched at Coombe Lodge the imposing wedding venue overlooking the lake.)

Also within easy reach are the caves of Cheddar and Wookey Hole, the cathedral city of Wells, the Georgian city of Bath and the home of Isambard Kingdom Brunel: Bristol.

The Somerset coast is equally close to hand with Brean Sands, Clevedon and Weston-super-Mare offering the holidaymaker a variety of activities including golf at the championship course at Burnham & Berrow.

There are numerous hostelries in the area most of which serve food from Michelin starred cuisine to good home cooking. The two best are on the doorstep: the Plume of Feathers in Rickford a 10 minute walk and The Crown at Churchill a 5 minute drive.

For sheer variety; country, city, seaside, culture, adventure, sport, shopping, relaxation, whether airborne, on the ground or underground Burrington Farm takes some beating.

As a place to unwind it's unbeatable.
