Location description from owner

The Western Ireland region

Abhaile Cottage is located on the edge of the Burren close to the famous villages of Doolin and Lisdoonvarna. The Burren is a unique area of incredible natural beauty with its lunar landscape and extraordinary array of flora and fauna. The region contains numerous megalithic tombs, celtic crosses and ring forts, not to mention Father Ted's house from the hilarious TV show!

The centre of Doolin with its legendary pubs O'Connors, McDermotts and McGanns, traditional music sessions, shops, gallery and restaurants is only 3km away. It is the perfect location to enjoy some ceól, ól agus craic! (Music, drink and fun!) There are traditional music sessions every night in summer and at weekends in winter.

Lisdoonvarna is just a short drive away and famous for its annual matchmaking festival, traditional music, pubs and great craic!

There is an 18 hole links pitch and putt course on the road to Doolin Pier, where you can enjoy a game with a stunning backdrop of the Cliffs of Moher, Aran Islands and Doonagore Castle. The course is conveniently located close to O'Connor's pub, where you can catch your breath after a game with some delicious pub grub, a creamy pint of Guinness and listen to some traditional Irish music.

You can take the ferry from Doolin Pier to the Aran Islands or take a cruise under the Cliffs of Moher. Boats generally run from Easter to October.

Lahinch, with its two-mile long stretch of golden beach, is just a short drive away, and a mecca for surfers and golfers alike, with its fantastic Atlantic swells and a MacKenzie 18 hole championship course. It is also home to Lahinch Seaworld with its aquarium, leisure centre, pool and gym.

Beautiful Fanore beach with its spectacular Burren backdrop offers a less crowded seaside experience and is popular with surfers, swimmers and walkers alike. Follow the coast road with its stunning views north to visit the fishing villages of Ballyvaughan and Kinvarra.
