Description

Aisling Cottage, Dooneen, Burren, Co. Clare.

This delightful 19th century limestone cottage nestled at the foot of the
Burren Hills is situated on the coast road between Kinvara (12km) and
Ballyvaughan (8km). Originally built and owned by the Maher Family, renowned stonemasons who built Fr. Ted's house.

The delightful cottage garden will provide you with the perfect backdrop for a morning coffee or glass of whatever you are having yourself after a days hill walking. It is within walking distance of Daly's Pub (1/2 mile) and ancient Corcomroe Abbey. There is also a wealth of Archeological sites to discover in this area. There are guided walking tours (within 2 miles) of the hidden Burren. The famous Flaggy Shore with it's spectacular view of Galway Bay is just 2 miles away - here you will find Linnane’s Seafood Restaurant and Bar - traditional music still thrives in the Burren region and Pub sessions can be found most nights in both Kinvara and Ballyvaughan.

Aisling Cottage is ideally located to explore not just the Burren region, an hour from Shannon airport. It is just a 45-minute drive from Galway City and the Gateway to Connemara. Day trips from both Ballyvaughan and Doolin are available to the world famous Aran Islands.

Surfing is hugely popular in Fanore just a half an hour drive away. For those who are more adventurous on their boards then Lahinch is the place a little further on. About 40 minutes from the cottage you will find the magnificent Cliffs Of Moher and visit its interpretive center or if you are brave and expert enough surf its world famous wave. Because of the limestone caving is one of the many pastimes popular in the area

Our cottage has been our home for the past 20 years and we feel it would make the perfect retreat for musicians, writers, artists, and nature lovers alike. Come and experience the warm cozy céad míle fáilte.
