This charming country house is located in Castrillo del Val, a little settlement next to St James´ Way in the province of Burgos. The villa has been restored to its original splendor: the significance of its traditional origins is highlighted by the use of local materials, limestone mainly. Timber beams and floors in natural pinewood give our house a unique atmosphere that combines the charm of history with the latest in comfort.
The house has 3 floors with 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, a full equipped kitchen, a large dining room and plenty of living spaces with fireplaces to loosen up. All the interiors are decorated with superb antiques and art pieces bought in our travels all around the world. The 1.700 square meters leafy garden also has an enchanting dining area sheltered by a grapevine, ideal to prepare barbecues with friends.
Located in the middle of northern Spain, it is the perfect place from where to explore not only the extensive territory of Burgos, but also other main cities like Madrid (2h), Bilbao (1h), San Sebastián (2h). An incredible area touched by the wand of a unique history and the greatness of universal Culture and Art.
Burgos is also famous worldwide for its gastronomy, and of course for its red wines; note it is located between the two main Spanish wine regions, “Ribera del Duero” and “Rioja”, so if you are a wine lover this is the place to be. You can visit some of the main centenary wineries and get all the insights from the production, first hand.

The Castilla y Leon region
The province of Burgos is composed of an intricate combination of people, towns, monuments and singular spots. All touched by the wand of an exceptional natural environment, the personality of an amazing history and the greatness of universal culture and art.
All of this leads to possibly considering the extensive territory of Burgos as one of the geographical areas with most attractiveness in the European continent. Apart from its monuments, come to discover its essence with its matchless nature spots and its delicious gastronomy, rich in aromas and flavors. Come and explore it with us!
In the city of Burgos, you will admire one of the most astonishing gothic cathedrals in the world. Yet, this is not the only treasure that this vast region preserves, a territory where the historical origins of Castile were brewed and where the Castilian language was born. Its varied counties and towns are studded with churches, hermitages, monasteries, palaces, towers and castles from all times and styles. All of these relics are the unmistakable testimony of a solid and outstanding history that will allow you to travel in time and explore ancient times.
The Road to Santiago blesses the province of Burgos with some of the most beautiful examples of Romanic architecture. Don´t miss the famous Santo Domingo de Silos Monastery and enjoy the Gregorian chants sang by its monks. Many other temples like the ones in Las Merindades and in La Bureba will surely restore the peace that the contemporary era has stolen.
Finally, the hominid sites of Sierra de Atapuerca will leave an indelible mark on your mind. Meet the Homo Antecessor of one million years old and discover the Museum of Human Evolution.
The small town of Castrillo del Val where our house is located, is a leisurely pace of life surrounded by nature. Here, you´ll have the opportunity to fully enjoy the folklore and the serenity of Castilla.
The landscape of the province of Burgos radically breaks with the cliché that identifies Castile with an enormous and arid plateau. Mountains and plains form a unique landscape with strong contrasts. A gigantic and heterogeneous mosaic of ecosystems and natural landscape are waiting for you to discover them. Here you will find the ideal place to forget about the stress of modern busy town life and will be carried away by the murmur of the water and the winds.

We have spent a few just perfect days in a very quiet place, which on the other hand has the advantage of being close to the city and of great natural and historical places to visit. This charming house is very well equipped, very warm in winter and we have been a group of 12 people with 2 children with full comfort. The treatment and care of its owners has been exquisite. Highly recommended
