Description

Rock Ridge Cottage is a newly renovated holiday cottage located just outside Buncrana Town on the Inishowen Peninsula. From its elevated site the cottage enjoys sweeping panoramic views over Lough Swilly towards the hills of the Fanad Peninsula.

With a location just over 2 km from Buncrana Town centre this cottage has the best of both worlds - a tranquil countryside setting yet with all the benefits of a vibrant modern town a short distance away. Not only that, but it is also a central base to explore the beautiful Inishowen Peninsula and the historic Walled City of Derry.

Newly Renovated Holiday Home

The cottage itself is deceptively spacious. There are two bright and spacious bedrooms with one enjoying lovely sea views. There is a stylish modern fitted kitchen and dining area. The cosy living room also enjoys sea views. The large bathroom features a bath and wet room style shower. There is ample parking around the cottage and a newly laid lawn to the front.

Buncrana is the largest town in the Inishowen Peninsula and it lies along the route of Irelands Wild Atlantic Way driving route. It has a full range of tourist amenities, as well as fine restaurants and lively bars. The town boasts a leisure centre and swimming pool, cinema, golf course, pitch and putt, play park, clean safe sandy beaches and many activities for children.

Located Along Donegals Wild Atlantic Way

Scenic highlight on the Inishowen Peninsula include the Fort Dunree Military Museum, The Gap of Mamore, the Famine Village on the Isle of Doagh, the Glenevin Waterfall and Malin Head - a signature Point on the Wild Atlantic Way. In addition to the beaches around Buncrana there are fine beaches dotted around the peninsula including Ballyliffin, Five Finger Strand, Culdaff and Kinnegoe Bay.

For the keen golfer there are 2 golf courses just a few minutes drive from the cottage - Buncrana Golf Club and the Northwest Golf Club at Lisfannon. The super Ballyliffin Golf Club is just 23km away. The landscape of the Inishowen Peninsula is ideal for the rambler and hill walker with a variety of hill and coastal walks.

Rock Ridge Cottage is also an ideal for those who wish to explore historic Derry City from a more a tranquil base. Few places in these islands can offer such a compelling and unique experience for the visitor as the Walled City of Derry - its setting on the steep hills overlooking the wide sweep of the River Foyle, its distinctive architecture and its famous walls all provide enormous appeal.

“Bad Booking Experience”

We booked this house for the period April 14th to April 25th, 2019, on a vacation still to be taken. The booking calendar showed availability between those dates and I received confirmation from the owner (Bridie Cassidy) with details of full cost and deposit required. However, within hours, she emailed me to cancel the booking. When I emailed her to ask the reason, she said she had a booking for Easter, which fell between the dates I booked - which she would have known when she accepted my query. I believe she possibly saw an opportunity to profiteer at this peak time and reneged on my query. So just be aware that if you reserve this house, you might end up getting “bumped” for a more lucrative opportunity.

Owner's reply: Danny, I would like to clarify that i DID NOT cancel your booking, you sent an enquiry looking for price and if the property was available for your dates which it was when i sent you the quotation, you did not except the quotation early enough and some other person booked and then the quotation that was sent to you was cancelled. If you made a booking you would have received confirmation from trip advisor and they would have taken a payment from you. I hope this clarify's that i did not CANCEL your booking but infact somebody else booked in between you making a decision of excepting my quotation. regards Bridie

We went down to stay for three days with my partner and two kids 6 and 2 as my older son was playing in the Foyle cup house was amazing view was amazing and we totally enjoyed our break defo b bk again loved it xx

How do damage deposits work?
