Buncrana Town and nearby surrounding areas have so much to offer for travellers.

The local scenic beauty is most definitely a huge attraction. Sandy beaches, numerous viewpoints from rolling hills, cliffs and mountains.

An ideal way to enjoy the scenic beauty of this area is by taking the "Inishowen 100" route plan by the local tourist industry which shows off Inishowens best features throughout a 100km journey.

The nature of the local people is welcoming and warming. People here have a genuine and caring interest in other people and this is a most unique and pleasant experience for travellers from largely populated areas to sample.

Buncrana hosts an annual music festival (normally in July) and the nearby town of Clonmany plays host to a hugely popular country music festival every year which brings with it people from all corners of the world! “50th year anniversary trip”

Reviewed 11 Sep 2015

Wonderful location with the best views one could hope for. My expectations were exceeded with my first trip to Ireland. Will recommend to anyone. We toured most of the area and saw some incredible scenery.

Thanks for making the effort to leave a review. I'm glad we helped make your first irish visit special. As they say..."up here its different" and we are very lucky to have some of the most spectacular scenery you will encounter along The Wild Atlantic Way. Don't make it your last trip...We would love to have you again in the future. Anita :)

“A magical cottage and location.....simply amazing!”

Reviewed 3 Aug 2015

We stayed for a week in the amazing Cecil's cottage. The location and house were simply stunning. You could tell straight away that the house is a labour of love. Eileen and Seamus were so friendly and hospitable and we were welcomed with a blazing fire in the stove. The view from the lounge was so beautiful and everyone loved Jessie the donkey! It is truly a gem and we will definitely be back!!

Thank you for your wonderful review! We love happy customers. The cottage is pretty special and a little magical even ;)

“Great setting for a magical 40th birthday celebration!”

Reviewed 10 Feb 2015

It's now two days after my 40th birthday weekend at Cecil's Cottage, just outside Buncrana. And what a weekend! Beautiful location, absolutely stunning cottage and the warmest and most generous of welcomes from Eileen and Seamus, who have built and furnished the cottage with incredible skill and love. My friends and I absolutely adored the cottage - most of us had been to Donegal before but even we couldn't get over the spectacular views! - and wouldn't hesitate to stay there again. Highly recommended.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write some lovely comments about your stay at our cottage. We are delighted you had a fab birthday celebration. Eileen regrets that she could not see you off but thanks you kindly for your lovely words. Hopefully we will see you soon, Anita :)

“Fantastic cottage in beautiful countryside”

Reviewed 6 Nov 2014

The cottage looks genuine old Donegal but is brand new and brilliantly finished, loved the sections of red corrugated roof. It was just starting to get cold outside but with modern insulation and unlimited turf/coal for the fires it was extremely cosy. Location is perfect for beach walks and a nice trek into Buncrana along the coastal path. The views from sun room are spectactular especially with the blue mountains and red sky at sunset. All mod cons and enough food essentials to keep you going even if you bring nothing. Loads of room for everyone to spread out and do their own thing as well as communal dining in front of the stove - the perfect Donegal experience, even our dog loved it.

Thank you soooo much for taking the time to post a review. It is very much appreciated. We are overwhelmed by the enjoyment so many people from all over the world are getting from our beautiful home with its scenic location. Its wonderful being able to share it with so many visitors. Thank you. We would love to see you sometime again in the future :)

“Lovely, cosy house in wonderful location”

Reviewed 29 Aug 2014

Our group consisted of 2 families and we stayed for one week in August. The house was finished and furnished with real character while at the same time being extremely comfortable. The beds were excellent and everyone slept soundly each night. The children really enjoyed the location and the nearby beach which can be easily reached with a short walk through 2 fields. We would thoroughly recommend the cottage and the owners Eileen and Seamus who were very friendly and helpful.

Thanks so much for your lovely comments. The cottage is definitely different and so enjoyable for a break away. We would love to welcome your return in the future so please do contact us if you decide to return again. Thanks so much :)

“Wonderful cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 29 Jul 2014

We have just come back from a great family holiday at Cecil's cottage and it was everything that we were hoping for. The owners met us on arrival and made us very welcome . Loads of character and well fitted out - great views of Lough Swilly which is a short walk through fields and only a few miles from Buncrana. The donkey in the field next door was very friendly and a big hit with the kids - and the dog!

We are delighted that you have spared some time to write a review. Nothing pleases us more than happy customers! So glad you enjoyed our cottage...we take a lot of pride in it and are glad to share it with the public. Thanks so much :)

“Amazing house with old world character and coupled with modern conveniences”

Reviewed 28 Jul 2014

'Cecil's cottage' is truly a hidden gem, 'Wow' would be the term I would use. Old world charm with all modern conveniences needed for an enjoyable holiday. We traveled with young children and they were made to feel thoroughly welcome, which made us feel more at home. Owners friendly and available for all queries but were not intrusive. We are really impressed and will stay again.

Thanks you so much....we are overwhelmed by the excellent reviews everyone has taken the time to write...we would love to have you again soon x

Thank you for sparing the time to write about your experience of Cecil's Cottage. We are delighted that you enjoyed it. We think it is the perfect location for a family celebration and hope you made some great memories during your stay. Please do return again soon :)

“A View to Die For”

Reviewed 4 Jun 2014

We had a fantastic time staying at Cecil's cottage and are already planning a return visit. Eileen and Seamus the owners gave us a very warm welcome (literally as they'd lit a huge fire in the best wood burner I've ever seen)and also very kindly provided us with some breakfast for the next morning. The cottage itself sits on a gentle hillside looking out over Lough Swilley. It's a stunning location and virtually every room in the house enjoys wonderful views looking out over the Lough and the hills in the distance. There's also a lovely beach immediately below the property which is accessible via the owner's field. Paddling around in the Lough is both safe and surprisingly bearable as the water is quite shallow, and on sunny days it warms up to a reasonable temperature ! Facing west, the cottage is also in prime position to behold some incredible sunsets. There's no better place to enjoy these than from the lounge, which is a sun room with panoramic views. It's undoubtedly the property's piece de resistance and also contains some very comfortable furniture. There are very few other houses in the area so if your looking for a place to get away from it all this is the place. That said the owners Eileen and Seamus live just up the hill, and this was a comfort, particularly as they were so friendly.

Thank you Julian and Helen for your lovely review. We were delighted to welcome you and look forward to your return. Your lovely comments are very much appreciated :)
