The Wales region

The mid-Wales county of Powys includes the three ancient counties of Montgomeryshire, Radnorshire and Brecknock (now commonly known as Breconshire). Powys is one of the most sparsely populated areas of England and Wales – ideal for a peaceful and relaxing break! Covering some two thousand square miles, Powys extends from the edge of Snowdonia in the north to the Swansea Valley in the south, from the Cambrian mountain range to the west to an eighty-mile border, much of it close to Offas Dyke, shared with England to the east. Within the county is a dramatic and ever changing landscape – including the mountains of the Brecon Beacons National Park, the rolling hills of Radnor Forest and the Berwyn Mountains in the north. Powys also has some of Britains most spectacular river valleys – including the Severn, Wye, Irfon and Usk – all sweeping through glorious scenery. Powys is the perfect place for those who enjoy an active and adventurous, outdoor lifestyle.

“Stunning mansion set into the Welsh hills”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2014

This place really does have the "wow" factor. Driving up the hill to the Fron you won't be disappointed. Sauna, hot tub, log burner, BBQ, widescreen TV - there is a feeling of luxury in this renovated farm house - the owners have gone to great lengths and expense making sure every fitting and fixture is top quality. There is even a summer house at the bottom of the hill if you need a little privacy. Every single one of our group of 12 guys were blown away by this place - a must - if you plan on exploring all that the Brecon Breacons have to offer. Will definitely be back!

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your lovely review. However I just want to clarify that the "summer house" is called Lily Pond Lodge, which sleeps 2, and has to be booked separately to The Fron. It is not automatically included in a booking for the main house - Many thanks

“beautiful cottage in stunning location”

Reviewed 23 Feb 2014

lovely barn conversion cottage, with all the amenities which make it a home from home. Very clean and spacious. Ideal location for a getaway break with stunning scenery from every window and the hot tub!!! Within easy reach of several nearby villages and 5 miles to nearest town ( shops). Had a lovely week with our family

“Beautiful house, well equipped, glorious views, especially from the hot tub, the most perfect week”

Reviewed 13 Nov 2013

We really enjoyed our stay at The Fron last week. We had a great holiday, and will return to the house and area in the near future. The house was ideal for two families. We were very impressed with how warm the property was, and how helpful the owners were (lovely welcome basket, extra things brought up etc.). It was also very well equipped, and we weren't lacking in anything. We would definitely recommend the property to others. Great to have WIFI as well, and all the wood provided was appreciated. Definitely the nicest place we've stayed in. The location was spectacular, and the whole place had a lovely feel. Thank you!!
