Lee Barton Farmhouse, a lovingly modernised mid-terraced farmhouse in Morwenstow hamlet near Kilkhampton village, 5 miles from the beaches at Bude, North Cornwall. Duckpool seaside beauty spot & beach 2 and a half miles. The farmhouse retains many character features such as original window seats, exposed beams, etc. Situated on a 200 acre beef, dairy & corn farm. A pretty, rural setting with pleasant walks on the farm's woods and fields. The farmhouse opens onto the large rear farm gardens and orchard as shown in photo. Spectacular cliff & beach walks along this National Trust coastline. A lovely National Trust footpath walk leading from the farm to Coombe Valley and the beach. Approx a 5 minutes stroll to free fishing on the farm's 2 ponds, 1 of which dates back to medieval times and earlier. One pond, approx 66 yards long, is stocked with coarse fish (carp over 10lb, tench & golden rudd up to 3lb). Fun fishing, not for serious fishermen. The other pond, which was originally used as a carp pond by local monks back in the 12th century and is one of the oldest in the country (featured on a T.V. programme) has been set aside as a nature sanctuary, often hosting migratory birds such as ducks. What makes the ponds so attractive is that they are in a wooded setting, making a lovely venue for picnics, fishing, or just to enjoy the scenery. Farm play field with goal post, swings, etc. Cot & High Chair. Linen inclusive. Electric inclusive. Heating in lounge by both an open log fire (logs from local garages) & 1 night storage heater. A night storage heater on upstairs landing & 1 wall mounted electric convector heater in bedroom 2. Parking in driveway for 3 cars. No pets.
Bedroom 1 has 1 double bed. Bedroom 2 has 4 single beds. Lounge/diner now with a large widescreen T.V. (surround sound), DVD and open fire. Kitchen with an electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, washing machine and dishwasher. Bathroom with bath & overhead shower.

The Cornwall region
Morwenstow hamlet is famous as the home of The Vicar Of Morwenstow and you can visit the old church and the Bush Inn. Nowadays the area is popular with walkers in the know, who enjoy the walking delights and scenery of Coombe Valley. Walk down the valley to Duckpool National Trust seaside beauty spot & good sandy beach. Spectacular rugged cliff and valley walks. Children seem to enjoy scrambling up the downs at Duckpool. On the edge of Coombe Valley are places of interest such as the previously mentioned historic Morwenstow Church, adjoining Rectory Farm tearooms, Morwenstows Bush Inn and slightly further afield Hatland Abbey (worth visiting, a privately owned country house and gardens with Gainsborough paintings etc). About 5 miles south is the beach resort of Bude which boasts huge classic sandy beaches- a quieter beach resort alternative to Newquay further down the coast. On the main beach at Bude is a massive and free outdoor swimming pool built into the cliffs. Boating (rowing boat hire) up Bude Canal all walk along the canal, passing the Bird Nature sanctuary, finishing the walk at Tearooms. Other attractions in Bude such as leisure centre with indoor pool and Ten Pin bowling, tennis courts, etc. Local attractions include the many quaint old villages and the Tamar Lakes (one a Nature Reserve with coarse fishing), the other lake reserved for water sports (can hire boats) childrens park play equipment such as climbing frames/swings and cafeteria.
