The Buckinghamshire region
Lillingstone Lovell is a lovely peaceful village with just thirty houses, five miles from the nearest towns of Buckingham and Towcester, surrounded by countryside ideal for walks in the woods or to country pubs. Close by is the Grand Union canal and the Waterways Museum at Stoke Bruerne. Days out in the Cotswolds, to Oxford, Warwick Castle and Stratford Upon Avon are easy drives as are numerous National Trust properties and magnificent houses open to the public.
If you want shops and nightlife, then Milton Keynes is just 20 minutes drive or Bicester Outlet shopping village for the serious shopaholics!
Silverstone motor racing circuit is close by as is Towcester horse racing. A championship golf course in the next village of Whittlebury and a Health Spa for a bit of indulgent pampering!
Something for everyone!
Lillingstone Lovell has an ancient history in the corner of North Buckinghamshire within walking distance of Northamptonshire and close also to the Oxfordshire border. It is very much Heart of the Shires but close enough to London for a weekend escape to the country with frequent fast trains from Milton Keynes.
Luton and Heathrow airports are easy drives and the cottage is well linked to the M1 and M40 motoways.

"A great base for relaxing and touring the area"
This thatched cottage was so amazing with all the necessary home comforts. A very comfortable bed awaited us after a day's driving in the area and the living room was so olde-worlde in the nicest way possible. Add to that a great hostess who was very helpful with pointing out places of interest and discovering places to drive to for the day. Nothing was to much trouble. Jane and Ian also have a wonderful garden, so a summer visit is recommended for all garden lovers. The great Stowe garden is also just round the corner. Easy access by road with nearest shops in Towcester or Buckingham. Loved the cat!
So glad you enjoyed your stay and thank you for all your lovely comments. We are busy in the garden now getting ready for the village Open Garden weekend in June. Hope to see you again!

"Little Thatch, the ideal place to chill out"
Beautiful cottage and garden in a very tranquil location, owners are great, helpful and friendly. Car essential with plenty to see and visit within a short drive.
You have been perfect guests and are now good friends. You have looked after our cottage when we have been away and I know everything will be in safe hands with you in charge. There is a lovely review mentioning your kindness. Thank you.

"Little Thatch; a little piece of heaven on earth in Lillingstone Lovell !"
After having found Little Thatch last year and stayed there on my own, this year I visited it with my future husband who had never been to England before....he's absolutely over the moon about everything British now! Little Thatch, a lovely, chocolate box, romantic cottage with all modcoms but with in the first place everything you ever wanted in a typical English country cottage: exposed beams, walls with vanilla icing [so it seems], a beautiful garden, romantic bedroom, cosy sittingroom [mind your head] and a splendid view when you're having your tea sitting in front of Little Thatch! And all of this splendidly taken care of by a very nice and special hostess, Jane! Thanks ever so much and see you next year!
Thank you for your lovely comments and I shall look forward to welcoming you from Holland again next year

"Beautifully idyllic relaxation haven"
We stayed in little thatch after our wedding after marrying in the gorgeous village church not 100 yards away. The cottage has everything you could possibly need which all seems to fit in perfectly with the wonderful personality of the place. The garden is stunning which we even used for our wedding photographs. Jane and Ian are an absolute delight and so helpful with any query you may have. Their wealth of local knowledge really did aid us in enjoying the surrounding area to the maximum. I would recommend this to anyone and will definitely be going back soon with a view to visiting during the winter time. My only disappointment was not sitting next to the open fire on a cold and dark winters eve.
It was wonderful to share your lovely wedding day and I am so glad everything was perfect, including the weather! Yes, you must come back and enjoy the log fire where a warm welcome will always await you with a Welcome Basket, a pile of logs and a bottle of wine. Hope to see you then.
