Location description from owner

The Scotland region

The house is part of a former Farm. There are only four other houses nearby, and we are surrounded in barley fields used by the whisky distilleries that Morayshire is most famous for. It is the Whisky capital of Scotland. These distilleries offer free tours and tastings.

The Oil industry provided much wealth in Moray, however Sea fishing is also a major industry, and the nearest harbour is 1km away in Port Gordon, and a larger one 5km away in Buckie (the largest town in the area).

Golfing is well catered for and there are many excellent courses.

Moray is also famous for Mountain Biking. There are specially created routes two km away in Fochabers. Ordinary road cycling is good also as the Granary has many minor farm roads suitable for danger free cycling.

Walkers can use the Spey side Way, or the Coastal Trail. The latter meanders through beaches and cliffs.

The Dolphin Centre at Spey Bay is 10km away. This is a major Nature Reserve where a wide variety of bird species and sea life congregate. This is one of the best unspoilt reserves in the EU.

One km from the house is the "Mill House" restaurant. This is an award winning place to eat.

Buckie

The House located in the North East of Scotland, midway between Aberdeen and Inverness and only one km from the Sea.

The area is famous for Light evenings in Summer when the Sun hardly sets. You can sit out the back of the house in dull daylight at Midnight and watch it get lighter again. The light is special in the area. As we are far North in Scotland, 300km North of Glasgow, there is no light pollution, and stars can clearly be seen most of the year round.

The land is open countryside and gives a feeling of space. In Summer many fields become golden with barley. The sea is never far away making Ornithology is a rich experience. It is a luxurious and relaxing spacious place.
