This studio apartment is comfortably furnished and has a double bed in a sleeping alcove, and double sofa bed and dining table in the lounge area. The bathroom has a bath with shower attachment, and wc. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge, four-ring gas hob, electric oven, toaster and kettle.

Two French doors lead out onto the partially covered west-facing balcony, offering inspirational views of the village and mountains beyond.

The main attraction of the region is its inspirational beauty, peace and tranquility. It is situated on the edge of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park and UNESCO Biosphere reserve, so is a spectacular hiking destination. There are walking routes sign posted from the villages. Routes range from short strolls to full-day hikes and two long distance routes.

Organised tours are available as well as other activities like horse riding, mountain biking, cañoning, climbing, bird-watching and paragliding. We are also within 1 ½ hour drive of the Sierra Nevada ski area. A small, but fascinating museum, Casa Alpujarreña, housing artifacts from times gone by can be found in the main plaza alongside the church.

Bubion

Untainted by mass tourism, Bubión is a typical white alpujarran village, built in Berber style by the Moors centuries ago. The whitewashed stone houses with their characteristic flat roofs and prominent chimney pots cluster haphazardly in narrow, twisting streets.

The pace of village life is slow and tranquil and it is not unusual to see sheep or goats herded through the village. The views from the village are stunning in every direction. To the north the highest mountains on the Spanish mainland, Veleta and Mulhacén rise up dramatically, and to the south the Mediterranean sea glistens beyond the coastal mountain ranges.
