“Comfortable, well-equipped, quiet and cosy house with a warm welcome”

Reviewed 26 Sep 2016

Comfortable, well-equipped, quiet and cosy house with a warm welcome from the owners next door. Located up a short steep track from where we saw wild deer grazing, the cats, chickens and goose living on the small holding next door were all very friendly. The house had a lovely view across the sea and had wifi and a hair dryer as well as Sky TV, a dvd player and a wide selection of dvds and books. Tap water was filtered from the surrounding hillside so retained a slightly peaty appearance and drinking water was supplied separately. A short 10 minute walk down the steep track and across the main road, allowed access to the shoreline where we watched seals and sea birds. The house provided a good base from which to explore the island and was only a short drive from the amenities of Brodick.

Thank you for your kind revi

“Great view, with all facilities.”

We had a lovely short break at this well-equipped house. There was everything we needed in the kitchen, Sky TV and DVD player for when it was raining (yes, I'm afraid it does do that quite a lot on Arran!) and a fantastic view across to the mainland. Lesley was welcoming and always helpful. We're nature lovers and the garden was full of birds, and there were seals hauled out on the shore right at the foot of the drive. Be advised that it's a bit too far to walk home if you're wanting a night at a pub in Brodick, and that the drive up to the house is steep and quite rough but any car will be able to make it. Otherwise it was perfect.

Thanks Tim for taking the time to post this excellent review. Yes, we always advise guests that a car is necessary and that if they want to go to the pub, they can drive down and get a taxi back ( approx £10) to the door. One of us will always take them to collect their car in the morning. Arran does have some beautiful weather as well as the rain and the couple of weeks prior to Tims visit were some of the hottest we've had in quite a while. Hopefully he if comes back the weather will be good!
