Description

Located in one of the Cotswolds' most quintessential villages, Shepherd's Hay is a perfect retreat for a peaceful holiday. Inside the cottage has been carefully renovated and is presented in a very charming and attractive style. The cottage is full of Cotswold charm - mullion windows, beams, inglenook fireplace and oozes country character and yet provides all the mod cons that one would expect from a very high standard of self catering. The cottage is as ideal for couples looking for a weekend retreat or longer break, as it is suitable for groups of four given the extra two beds available. Perhaps above all else this offers the superb mix of having an excellent property set right in the heart of this amazing village. The High Street, where the cottage is situated, is simply gorgeous: gorgeous Cotswold buildings, nothing more than the odd car and some horses plus a superb pub! You will struggle to get find a more classic Cotswold cottage!COTTAGE ACCOMMODATIONEntrance through

Location description from owner

The Cotswolds region

Stanton is arguably one of the prettiest and most idyllic villages in the whole of the Cotswolds, located at the foot of the Shenberrow Hill in the Northern reaches of the Cotswolds. Without doubt it has one of the most stunning high streets in the region with ancient houses dating back to the 16th Century built in typical Cotswolds style with steeply pitched gables, mullioned windows and honey coloured limestone walls. The village also boasts two magnificent manor houses as well as a restored medieval cross and a church dating back to the Norman period.

The village has an Open Gardens Day which normally takes place in June, when the many beautiful gardens can be admired. There is a plethora of lovely walks including the famous Cotswold Way which traverses for 100 miles between Chipping Campden and Bath - that tracks through Stanton. Stanton also has a cricket ground where the local villages compete regularly throughout the summer; you can also enjoy some riding at the Jill Carenza stables (www.cotswoldsriding.co.uk)

Broadway

And for relaxation, the Mount Inn pub stands on a hill at the top of the village with spectacular views across the Vale of Evesham towards the Malvern Hills and Welsh mountains beyond. Lunch and dinner is available in addition to local Donnington's Cotswold Ales. We've tried it and WE LOVE IT!

For steam enthusiasts there is the delightful Gloucestershire Warwickshire Steam Railway - www.gwsr.com which is located a few miles away, just outside Broadway.

Stanton is 20minutes drive to Cheltenham and 30 minutes from Stratford-upon-Avon.
