Description from owner
This is a beautiful very old little cottage and dates back to around 1720 and is full of character and charm. I am sure in its time it was many things, but I was told by the previous owners it used to be a book shop many years ago and from the 60's a haberdashery. It is set in the heart of St Peters Broadstairs on a quiet little street, but close to all amenities. The cottage has just been refurbished ready for rental from 29th April. It is close to local transport, 5 minutes drive from the train station and a few metres walk to the bus stop and the bus can take you all around Thanet. The walk to the beach takes about 20 minutes and 15 to the town (a taxi to the town costs around £3.50. (Please don't think that St Peters is out the way, it is closer to Broadstairs town and beaches than most other areas in Broadstairs, please see the map for proximity). There are many other beaches close by, like Kingsgate bay and Botany bay to explore which are just a 5 minute drive away

There are many other beaches close by, like Kingsgate bay and Botany bay to explore which are just a 5 minute drive away and worth a visit. There is a Coop supermarket round the corner and 4 pubs within 5 minutes walk, including the award winning micro pub The Yard of Ale which is a must to visit.
From the conservatory there is a small walled garden with garden furniture. There is a lounge/dining room with a dining table and 6 chairs and plenty of lounge seating, TV & Wi Fi. The kitchen has all you need and more. The cellar has been made into a bedroom room and holds a day bed which can be used as 2 single beds or be made into a king size bed. There are two further bedrooms both with double beds and built in wardrobes. The small bathroom comprising of a shower, toilet and sink is situated on the second floor.
Please note this house is very old and quirky and not suitable for the disabled due to the spiral staircase. Care needs to be taken with the stairs with EVERYONE as it is narrow and steep, but is part of the cottage character. I would recommend that very small children don't sleep on the top floor as the staircase is partly open. 2 stair gates and cot are available to use on request.
As advised by Holiday lettings a £200 damage deposit will be required and held with Holiday Lettings (obviously accidents happen and for small breakages no deposit will be retained, this is precautionary only). This deposit is returned to you 7 days after departure by the holders, Holiday Lettings.PLEASE NOTE For 3 day bookings or less towels will NOT be provide
Location description from owner
The Isle of Thanet region
There are many local sandy beaches including Viking Bay, Stone Bay and Louisa Bay. The nearby Royal Harbour town of Ramsgate is just 10 minutes away and the amazing Turner Contemporary art gallery in Margate is 20 minutes away.
The cinque port of Sandwich and the historical City of Canterbury are within easy reach and well worth a visit for river trips, shopping in quirky shops and the magnificent cathedral. Whitstable, Dover Castle and Deal are a 20-30 minute drive away and worth a visit for a day out. All the local towns are accessible by train and the station is a 10 minute walk away from the cottage.
St Peters is a quiet village connected to Broadstairs and boasts of 4 great pubs including the award winning micro pub, The Yard of Ale which is well worth a visit.
Both Broadstairs and St Peters are unspoilt and charming and Broadstairs within 15 minutes walk from the cottage with beautiful beaches, a Victorian promenade and individual shops and many more bars and restaurants. Don't miss The Little Art Gallery situated near the arcade, where you can find over 300 original paintings by local artists from just £5!
You can enjoy the main sands with Punch and Judy, traditional activities and a great atmosphere or you can escape to the quiet Bays with few visitors for a relaxing day. You can visit a different beach everyday for two weeks and still wont have seen them all. If the tide is out you can walk from Margate to Broadstairs to Ramsgate along the beaches but don't get caught by the tide.
Stroll through the quaint towns to explore the individual shops, bars and restaurants for an evening out or to enjoy afternoon tea or traditional fish and chips. There are numerous restaurants and bars to choose from and live music is frequently playing.
Throughout the year a range of events take place to include The Big Broadstairs Weekend in May, Dickens Week in June, Folk Week and Water Gala in August and a very popular Food Festival in October. Free firework displays on the beach take place throughout the summer months. There really is something for everyone.
