Description from owner

Description

The apartment is located in the historic Eagle House , which directly overlooks Viking Bay with its sheltered, family friendly sandy beach. Built in 1796 ,Eagle House in its time served as the headquarters of the Coastal Blockade. In 1815 after the Battle of Waterloo when the Duke of Wellington defeated the French army under the command of the then Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, it was at Eagle House that the captured eagle standards of the French army were delivered along with news of Wellington's victory over Napoleon in the battle. The house then became known as 'Eagle House ' to reflect it's own small part in the this historic event.

This unique one bedroom apartment is newly refurbished and furnished to a high standard including antique furniture. It is fully equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday. We've tried to think of everything that will enable you to have truly relaxing break , even down to your picnic hamper and bucket and spade

This unique one bedroom apartment is newly refurbished and furnished to a high standard including antique furniture. It is fully equipped with everything you need for a wonderful holiday. We've tried to think of everything that will enable you to have truly relaxing break , even down to your picnic hamper and bucket and spade to build sandcastles ! Additionally there is an iPod/ smartphone dock with a built in cd player and dab radio. Lots of storage cupboards. The apartment also comes with items for your use on the beach such as a beach sun dome, icebox and icepacks, beach mats, beach umbrella, picnic hamper with plastic crockery and a windbreak.

Eagle House has a private entrance directly onto the splendid beach at Viking Bay. Although it is on the beach it is also in the centre of town close to shops, restaurants, pubs, ice cream parlours, and all amenities. As Eagle House house backs on to a cliff , when inside the flat it is as though the town does not exist - there's no traffic noise, only the sound of sea and beach.

This light airy apartment sleeps up to up to four people with a double bedroom and a sofa bed in the living room. So, it's suitable for a solitary getaway , a romantic tryst or family fun. With large original sash windows it has unsurpassable sea views. The bedroom has french doors which open out onto a private balcony which overlooks the communal garden, Viking Bay and directly out to sea.

The beach couldn't be closer unless you were sleeping in one of the beach huts.Walk down the stairs to the communal garden cross the lawn to the beach gate and you're there. Even if you're one of those people who tell your nearest and dearest to pass you the remote for the tv even though it's right next to you we're sure that you could manage that :)

For the those of you who get up with the larks get a cuppa, sit out on the balcony and watch the kaleidoscope of colours as the sun rises on the horizon and the seagulls swoop and hover in gentle air current over the beach. In warm weather the colours are wondrous but even in cool weather the everchanging colours of the sky over the sea will be a treat for photographers amongst you.

Broadstairs

Broadstairs is a lovely English seaside town with something for everyone. It's a very popular location full of old fashioned seaside charm. Punch and Judy and ice-cream on the beach? We've got it. Music ? If you love traditional music you'll love Folk Week. Be warned though, Folk Week is incredibly popular and has a well deserved national and international reputation so if you'd like to check it out be quick as holiday rentals for that period get booked up quickly. For more contemporary music what about Lounge on the Farm for a festival vibe and some serious music in the sun.

If you've always fancied swishing around in a crinoline or prancing about in some pantaloons then Broadstairs Dickens Festival is just the thing for you ..Ooh Mr Peckersmythe is that padding in your pantaloons or does our meeting bring you great pleasure sire !'

If you want to find out more about Broadstairs or Thanet generally and you love local history you should pay a visit to Michael's Bookshop in Ramsgate. It's local history section is a little treasure trove of information. Close by are nature reserves, the Viking cycle path, crazy golf and golf courses such as Royal St. Georges Open Championship golf course in Sandwich.
