“Great gite, fab for kids, Brionne good base to explore”

Reviewed 21 Jun 2013

Gite was spotless on arrival. Gite has all the home comforts and facilities to use over the week. Travelled with 1 year old - the garden was great for him to explore, loads of toys inside and out to play with. Very comfortable - would certainly recommend and go again. Had some really good days out - Honfluer, abbey, market and swimming pool at Le Neubourg, lake, Harcourt, Rouen. Cerza wildlife park was fantastic. Take a picnic. Its a full day out though.

“A wonderful gite where we were made very welcome indeed.”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2012

Thank you Maddie, Bruno and family for providing this wonderful little gite! It is probably the cleanest and best equipped gite we have experienced in over 17 years of 'giting' in France! It sparkles in the sun! All you could ask for and more besides - it even has snail forks in the cutlery!! Maddie and Bruno made us very welcome, answered all our queries about the area, etc - and were most attentive (but in no way intrusive) throughout our stay. A very comprehensive and generous 'Welcome Pack' greeted us, with fresh eggs (from the chickens at the bottom of the garden!), cider, butter, milk, juice, jam, bread, etc., and salad vegetables from the greenhouse - lovely!! We had a fabulous meal without even having to shop! Set in a beautiful little hamlet on the edge of Brionne and an ideal centre for visits. No need to travel far, many of the small local villages you discover when wandering around the area are very interesting and just walking around the neighbourhood was extremely relaxing. Caramella, the pygmy goat, was waiting for us each evening after our first day – looking forward to scoffing the last bits of the daily baguette!! Our lovely neighbours had a young toddler who was in heaven all week! He just couldn't believe that he had his own little house (play house!), stuffed full of toys, in the garden! And the number of books for children has to be seen to be believed. A very welcoming and safe place to stay if you have young children. We had a most memorable, wonderful week - a great pity we didn't book for two! We are very happy to recommend both La Maisment and its sister gite Le Batison to anyone! Next time we return to Normandy we will be staying here!

“A delightful, child friendly house in a quiet area suitable for touring Normandy”

Reviewed 1 Jul 2012

We stayed for a lovely, relaxing week in La Maisment during June 2012. The owners of the property were extremely helpful from first booking to arriving at the house (the ‘how to get there’ directions were very thorough). On arrival, with our own parking place at the bottom of the garden, we found the little house to be spotlessly clean and tidy and the owners had kindly left a ‘starter pack’ for us of bread, milk, fresh eggs (from their own chickens), juice, jam etc. even a bottle of local cider – all very useful after travelling from the UK. We had no small children with us but for a family with two small children the house is perfect – lots of toys, games to play with, together with swings in the garden. Situated in a quiet area, we found it to be a great, relaxing base for exploring Normandy.

“Best holiday rental in Northern France!”

Reviewed 14 Mar 2012

This is a fantastic find. We travelled down to the channel tunnel and it took us just over 2hrs from the tunnel in france to arrive at La Maisement. We have 2 children (14 & 16 yrs) and they got on really well with the owners children who are bilingual. The holiday home is spotless with everything you need. A wonderful welcome pack of fresh free range eggs from the owners chickens, local cider, bread, milk etc all the essentials (I have never had this in any holiday home before & free of charge!) The accommodation was perfect for us with the double room private and the mezzanine open which has lots of space for our two! We came here for the tranquility and to get away from the "norm" of everyday life and we got it! We had a wonderful time, played lots of board games as a family which is a luxury for us to spend quality time together. The neighbours in Le Batison were lovely and we hope to see them again, we got on really well! The owners invited all of us to a BBQ at theirs and we all had a fabulous time, where else would you get that kind of hospitality welcoming strangers into your home? Maddie and Bruno are fabulous hosts and as our french is quite limited it was perfect to have two hosts who took the time to listen and help us learn the language. We will definitely return later on this year. We would highly recommend this to anyone who is willing to embrace the 'French way of life'. Thank you so much for your kindness Maddie, Bruno, Melanie and Estelle. ps. Daniel actually enjoyed time away from the PS3!

“Gotta be the cleanest gite in France!”

Reviewed 7 Sep 2011

Stayed at La Maisment for 3 nights in August 2011 and I have to say it was the most cleanest and best equipped gite I have ever stayed in France. It had everything down the dishwasher tablets, washing machine and liquid etc etc etc. My three year old thought it was heaven due to the toys and books at the gite and it was so safe for an inquisitive three year old! Maddie provided us with a welcome pack including local cider, eggs freshly laid from her hens, orange juice, milk etc. It was fabulous and we would definitely recommend! Thanks Maddie and Bruno!!

“Friendly, lovely garden space with swings, French countryside...”

Reviewed 4 Sep 2011

We stayed at La Maisment for a week with our two children (6 & 11 months). It was a great outside space for children, a garden with toddler swing and child swing, a small sandpit, chickens behind the fence that kept our toddling 11 month old amused for ages! Space outside to eat and have a BBQ, sun-loungers and patio equipment there. The owners property is next door and overlooks the garden space and they were friendly and welcoming so it was nice to know they were at hand if needed. The property is semi detached with another small house, so we had another set of children playing in the garden too and our little ones enjoyed making friends (although we could hear them through the wall at times). Inside we had a high chair, cot, toys, and everything needed for little ones. The only thing we struggled with a bit was the fact that the upstairs bedrooms were on a Mezzanine level and that it was a littler smaller than we imagined on the inside. The area is very beautiful and rural and quiet and we had lots of day trips to the nearby lake and beach an hour's drive away. All in all a simple, country holiday property, nicely clean and with lots of little extra's for the children to make them feel welcome. Perfect for two families travelling together, one in each house, or if you like meeting new families on holiday.

“La Maisment is a home away from home in a beautiful area of France”

Reviewed 8 Aug 2011

We had a brilliant two weeks at La Maisment which was made all the more perfect by the warm welcome and hospitality that we received from Maddie & Bruno and their daughters. Our children, Megan (6) and Zach (3) had the best time playing in the garden enjoying the play house, swings and sandpit and not forgetting the animals of course! They also made good friends with the children from the neighbouring cottage which meant they were happy to entertain themselves for hours on end, leaving us to enjoy a glass or two of the local cider. The property is located in a pretty hamlet and is lovely and peaceful, whilst at the same time being well located for easy access to routes into Rouen, Paris and further West to coastal resorts like Honfleur (highly recommended), Deauville and Trouville. We also enjoyed visits to Chateau d'Harcourt, Liseux and would also recommend Parc EANA towards Le Havre which our children thoroughly enjoyed and is a great day out. We would recommend this holiday cottage to anyone, but especially those with young children. Thank you again - we didn't want to come home!
